Right, don't really have time to come on here again now, so I'm going to say bye now :hello:

I'm away for a week, off to see my mum and do a few alternative-y type things, hopefully coming back full of energy, because right now I'm absolutely shattered. I think I might have to knock sugar and chocolate on the head again, which is sad, I'd started to like having it, but ... we'll see.

    Today I still have to:
    - input mystery shop
    - phone my mum.
    - watch Who Do You Think You Are - I'm not missing that for anything!
    - send over euros to France, from sterling - I thought I'd be able to get away without doing this, but I'm not.
    - finish defrosting the fridge, which I'm afraid I've only just started.
    - get names and phone nos of some B&Bs where I'm going.
    - do a matched bet !!!
    - delist Amazon books.
    - pack.

And tomorrow, set the DVD player, and plug in the electronic spider thingies that will turn my house into a hellhole for them.

    Oops.

I also have another 3 emails to do, and thats *not* the ones I'm leaving out of the list.... I'll be glad to get away so that I *can't* do anything else.

    Hiya! I'm back!!!

Feels like I've been away a million years.... tho I confess I spent a couple of hours on the return journey yesterday plotting my mse path... I consider it a good use of a train journey, I really do!

Good to be in up north - we used the Heritage Open Weekend to go see a few places that are very famous in Liverpool but don't usually have guided tours, it was brilliant, and I may have a link to a piece of genealogy thats had half a dozen of us puzzled for about ten years. I doubt it, but its nice to dream.... Then the Botanic Gardens in Southport, with the newly restored Fernery, which is *adorable* - little ferns perched everywhere, as well as some turtles sitting on each other and some humongous great ferns here and there.

Then I pottered off to the Centre for Alternative Technology, which seems to finally have accepted that the sixties are over, tho they still sell the Diggers & Dreamers listing of communal living (and yes, I know about it because I investigated myself, I don't call myself an old leftie for nothing, y'know!).

Great technology - tho with the clean lines we like to have these days, I can't see many of their "re-use" ideas coming into play in our houses. I like a lot for the garden tho - clean lines don't seem as appropriate in the garden. They're very honest about what *doesn't* work, or is still too expensive for ordinary householders to instal, given the cost of installation and the rate of return, thats very honest of them.

Now, I have a load of jobs to do and things to catch up on, but the most immediate thing is my ballet class! The first one for me is tonight... I'm very tempted not to go, being such an isolationist pain-in-the-wotsit, but since I've paid 50% upfront, I'll force myself. And I *do* need to do it.

Right, off to catch up with a few diaries, then I'm off.

Oh! I better make it to the class then :)

Nah, don't worry, I'm not going to waste *that* amount of money (£28, sigh.... it seemed like nothing in the old days). Its just my usual isolationist carp, I'm not going to pay any attention today. Before I get there, I'm also going to go to Wickes, to buy some mortar and plasticiser - my builder can do the repointing that needs a ladder, but I'm going to do everything else. I was telling my mum while I was at hers, and even she seemed to think it was quite normal - she'd seen a youngster in her twenties doing it, now she's going to think I'm chicken if I don't! :rotfl: At least it will save me a lot of dosh!

Haven't seen your diary yet Red, I'm off now for a looksee - you'd better be going to your classes too!

Go to the class!!!! You will be glad you did.

It sounds as if you've had a good trip. I love the Centre for Alternative Technology. I used to go up there quite a bit at one time - must be 20 years ago though.
