£7 or not, surely if you look back at what you would have spent in the same period last year, or the year before, you have still made huge improvements in that budget? So, whether you spend £7 a week, or £10 a week, or even a bit more, you are probably still quids in, and THAT is what is important :T

Couldn't agree more. I think its easy for us to set ourselves these goals and beat ourselves up when we miss them even if just slightly. We have to remember that we have changed and even if we don't do quite what we expect its a darn site better than what we were doing pre LBM.

    £7 a week is a brilliant achievement.:T

Wow KC I hve soooo much admiration for you and your angle grinder !
My house needs lots of bits and bobs done including a few bits that really need sorting before they get serious. I need to find a DIY for idiots class I think but you've inspired me to go look for one and stop wimping out !

  • I know what you mean Karma - we have had to really cut back/down and it is amazing what we can still get for a tenth of the price!

We have decided we will not really up our spending when Dr Dragon is working again - that way we can get the ISA's back up to full amounts AND I should be able to clear my CC quickly - we never really have been ones for "tick" so it shouldn't be too much of a problem (we always like to have at least 3 months salary in Dr Dragon's account as well as savings in the ISAs - boy has it done us proud since May!!)

Thanks! Its in a pretty little case and all, too! I can't help laughing when I look at that case!

Ah... see [KC looks wise] I let things go until this last six months I've just had to spend and spend and spend on the house. And there are at least three other structural things that need attention - damp thats appeared in the hall cupboard and blown plaster on the internal side of an outside wall, plus all the remortaring. Its quite amazing to me how much there is.

Excellent! I did go to a painting and decorating class about a million years ago, and thats given me a vague outline, and also decided me never to use wallpaper, which I'm not particularly partial to anyway, so that was good!

PS - remember, I haven't actually *done* any angle grinding yet!

:o:o:o Its a target, I'm afraid, not an achievement - I think its very do-able tho, I often only spend £8 or so a week on veg even when I'm not trying *terribly* hard, it should be okay. I can't believe I can manage to spend only £300 in six months, but it looks do-able. Of course, the thing that will make it possible is going cold turkey on my addiction to Waitrose pesto - it went up to £1.79 from £1.25, and Ive managed to transfer my addiction to Tesco Value pesto - regular price 99p, and I've got 8 pots left in the cupboard at the introductory price of 84p - see what I mean about stocking up for a reason? I bought ten at the intro price - saved £1.50! Now I just have to be careful not to over-use it at each meal :D

Off out now - catch you all later!

Well, plans for the angle grinding carry on apace - tho I think I bought the wrong plasticiser for the mortar yesterday - I should have bought PVA, but I bought a generic plasticiser from Wickes. I might just take it back. Bought a special little mortaring trowel too, though I bet I just end up putting one of those disposable gloves on and putting the stuff in the gap with my finger at first :)

Neighbour was cutting down the remnants of the leylandii at the back when I got back yesterday, hurray! So after I'd had a sit, I carried on for a bit - have managed to do about half the vacuuming I needed to do for this afternoon, so I can easily do the rest of it later on this morning. And I got rid of a little bit of ivy overgrowth in the front, plus a lot of dead cotoneaster branches.

Shattered by then, and I gave myself a real treat - I had pasta *twice* yesterday! I've substituted with potatoes for a long time, cos of my gluten intolerance, but have it once a week or so. So twice in a day was wowee!

And then I was in serious danger of falling asleep in front of the tv, so I didn't do anything at all the whole evening, which was fine by me (except get my autumn duvet onto the bed, that was necessary if I was going to be able to sleep).

So today, there's a list as usual:
    - sitting with the trading - going to get another cup of tea in a minute, close down IE, and do that.
    - got to finish off the vacuuming - first client now isn't till 4pm, so I've got plenty of time to do that.
    - weekly plan says to do DIY work and mse stuff. So I'll look for a matched bet later on today, and I think I *might* take out one of those L&G ISAs for the cashback.
    - don't want to do any DIY work, I've done a lot of physical activity over the last few days. Now that the neighbour's cut back the leylandii completely, I might go back to cutting back a shrub of mine that was underneath the leylandii overgrowth, carry on getting light back into the garden. Thats nice light work, and its out in the fresh air.

Right, cup of tea time for me. Have a good day all.
    xx

I'm not doing too badly, thanks :T - I'm learning that I have to take a break sometimes - can't just go at it all day and expect to feel even remotely okay. Risotto would be nice, but I'm afraid my house will be up and running when hell freezes over (I wonder if that will get past the censors? ) :o :rotfl:

However, I haven't done much of the list - have done the watching-the-trading, finished up my application for a Tesco Clubcard plus (double points for a DD of £10 a month) and then did a bit of scanning to declutter, since I'd turned the scanner on to scan the original docs I had to send off with the application form.

Off to do the vacuuming and the washing up now. :money:

Yes it got past the swear filter! Ah well it was worth a try :rotfl:, when Dr Dragon takes the laundry I might sit on the floor in the bathroom and do the privy!
