  • maybe i should get the book to help me with MBING, though i doubt it will.
I am reading another book called "life is huge," by susan jeffers, i have read the "feel the fear and do it anyway "book.
so if i combine the two, i maybe half way..what with Vera Waters books.
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hi Bob, no, I doubt this book would help you with MBing. What's the issue for you with that?

Occasionally, books get mentioned on here, and several people find them useful - I know Hypno had one a while back about organising, or based around organising, and several people that she passed it on to found it helpful. "Feel the fear and do it anyway" is a great little book - its sort of what Brett Steenbarger is saying too, except that he's also saying, *think* about the fear, what does it tell you, and for him its not just about fear - its feeling what you feel and not letting it rule you, using it as another indicator.

At the mo, I've done one yougov survey, and am trying to find a matched bet, but since I've never done tennis or horseys, its difficult - I'm not going to do one on those on the spur of the mo and then find the rules don't match - tho I may have to read up on tennis, what with Wimbledon coming up. Hi ho. I think its one more coffee then into town for me....

Hmm, hard to explain exactly what I mean... I guess just that it's very difficult to change ways of thinking and I struggle with the idea that you can 'train' yourself to think a different way, that you can consciously change your thoughts. For example, it doesn't seem to matter how many times I do things that make me nervous, and they turn out to be fine, I'm still nervous about them.

I am a miserable negative old git though :o

:rotfl: Oh I *so* know what you mean, redsquirrel! I really do! I see this not so much as changing my thoughts, tho, but exploring ideas and connections that I never even thought of before. And using that new knowledge to temper my feelings (in my case, my paralysing fear) - which I also work on emotionally, accessing the fear and letting it unroll and experiencing it in full.

Thats how I got rid of my flying phobia, chipping away bit by bit. The first flight I took was to Glasgow, to a science fiction con for a day - I did that so I could get back by train if I needed to. I was still scared, but not paralysed, even tho I had to fly back in the dark and the rain, and the flight was delayed because of bad weather, so in the next few years, I flew to the Hebrides, to Spain, to Africa and to the USA (3 times!). Still scary, but manageable, and thats all I ask.

Actually, I didn't do any reading about that - I found all the flying phobia stuff very condescending, as if you didn't know anything about flying or aeronautics, whereas I'm a flying and space buff and a member of several enthusiast societies.

    Yesterday's list:
-[strike]matched bet.[/strike] looked, but couldn't find a good enough match, I worked out that with a WR of x4 to get an SNR, 0.07 as I did on Thursday is really wasteful.
-[strike] bank cheques.][/strike] Boring but essential!
    - mindfulness exercises. Gah! See what I do! The thing I've been prattling about endlessly, I don't do. Will do morning and evening today.
-[strike] gardening.[/strike] Dead chuffed at this! The front is looking quite a bit tidier.
-[strike]4 surveys have turned up in my inbox, will do those.[/strike] don't think I did all of them, but not bad, and can potter doing the rest today.

Not bad, except for the lack of mindfulness exercises! The dfw list for today:
    - have done nectarpoints talktalk survey.
    - been on the m.b. board here, and realised how much money I've been throwing away by not investigating reload offers properly.
    - finish off surveys.
    - do more "gardening", i.e. clearing, this time at the back. Bag the waste. Shall I commit to planting up the windowbox I prepared before I went away? Yeah.... it'll give the little herbs a chance to grow, poor things.
    - clean the toilet and bathroom properly, the hallway & counselling room too, since I'm working tomorrow.
    - check out a matched bet!

Do-able, I think, tho a bit busy. Ah well, I might try to find time to mooch into town too.

Hope everyone has a good one.

Just caught up! Great that you had a good time away & met hypno & pania! I must admit that I too struggle with the MB - would love to do it but know I would never get my head round it, poor mathematically dyslexic brain that I have! Have fun doing he veggies...debating whether to go to the plot today or not...

Hi folks, yes, I will put my feet up, don't worry - the reason I post lists is that my natural inclination *is* to put my feet up, and I then feel overwhelmed by everything I haven't done! At the mo I am on my 2nd cup of nice coffee (ground coffee, but its Tesco Value) am checking out the online auction at Michael Shanks' website (not bidding!) and looking at classes locally for get fit and book clubs (thats cos of ISOM), oh and checking what films are on tonight - Bewitched sounds good. Not a single piece of dfw work in the lot.

Morning KC.. ooh I didn't know you could get Tesco Value 'proper' coffee - have been thinking about getting a coffee machine, or at least a cafetiere for ages.

This weekend I have also discovered the joy of lists - definitely helped yesterday when I really didn't feel like doing anything, got loads done!

    Have a nice day x
