So that they can be contacted if needed?
But why is it on public display in reception? I can understand why managers may need to contact off duty staff to come into work to cover sickness etc -I can even understand why reception staff may need to know this if it's delegated to them - but nobody else needs to know "private" contact details. I can also understand why "private " numbers might be shared between managers and some colleagues, but I would only do so as required.
Maybe OP had an affair with someone who was entitled to know their "private" number :rotfl::rotfl:
Where would that get them? (I'm trying really hard to avoid the more prurient aspects of this thread - but I can't help it! :rotfl:
I've certainly heard of similar "predicaments" at work!0

I think by 'public display' they meant its in a staff area but if the public decided to climb over/lean over/vault over they could read the numbers.
And a jolly good time theyd have too if they texted the right one... :grouphug::grouphug:0

So that any member of staff that needs to get them can easily and quickly get it, probably.Manxman_in_exile wrote: »But why is it on public display in reception?:rotfl::rotfl:
There was no suggestion that anyone other than staff could see it.0

Does it really matter? the OP handled the situation wrongly be responding to the text and having the affair.0

Staff swap shifts all the time. The OP probably signed something, maybe without realising. This is likely questionable under DPA, if this is a personal phone. Under GDPR it would almost certainly be a breach (starts May 2th), they will need to get your permission to use your number in this way (or justify it legally, which I can't see them being able to do).0

What if a stranger took my number and something happened?
Maybe everyone wouldn't be taking the mickey...
What exactly do you think they'd do with a mobile number?....0

I wonder if the OP's started an affair with anyone from the Information Commissioner's Office yet?0

"I was so shocked that someone took my number from a message board that I just HAD to have sex with them".What exactly do you think they'd do with a mobile number?....
My love life's been a bit quiet recently, I'd just like to thank the OP for the tip :rotfl:0
