The advantage was that it was kept at reception and if somebody needed to be contacted to replace a person who was sick etc people who could not access the main office PC could contact said employee.
This is my personal mobile number that I gave on my application.0 -
You've left out so much relevant detail. Was it really a case of one day, you walked in reception, got closer to the wall and noticed that there was a long list of personal numbers with names? You said you complained verbally then, what do you mean? Did you ask what the list was all about, why they felt the need to compile it, put it on the wall there, and said that this was breaching the DPA and you wanted your name removed? When it wasn't removed, did you put an official complaint? Why didn't you mark it black then so no-one could see it?
You say that others were not happy about it either, but are you saying that no-one at all raised this as a concern? Are you sure there wasn't an email going around saying that this list would be compiled and the manager's personal phone numbers would be stated unless a request was made in writing not to add one's name?
How do you know that they took your number from your job application?0 -

im trying to understand is it work number ...cos if so its quite normal0

To answer the question asked, no, you have nothing to complain about. My company lists everyone’s mobile and work number in the internal directory, this is normal.
Now, what was the relevance of mentioning the affair?..0 -

No, the OP has stated it was their private number and they are no longer employed there, It's just sour grapes after a failed love affair0 -

No they do still work at the place that posted their number and where they had an affair.
In earlier posts the OP referenced being a manager, so I said 'as a manager you have responsibility for DPA too' and they stated they no longer work as a manager at the other workplace.
So OP has worked at current place with phone list/affair but has worked there for under 2 years.0 -
OP, do you have a record of having complained about this when it happened? You could request a follow-up on that complaint with your manager.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
