Employer gave out my phone number.

This is likely questionable under DPA, if this is a personal phone. Under GDPR it would almost certainly be a breach (starts May 2th), they will need to get your permission to use your number in this way (or justify it legally, which I can't see them being able to do).0

Ok, so when the manager goes to the person who has been sending you said messages, & they reply & say "Well I dont think Deleted_User minded as look at thier replies"... what do you think the manager will say?Dwy galon, un dyhead,

Your not getting the question.
Is it legal under the DPA to put my personal number on display for all to see.
I'm not asking for judgemental answers.
I have not signed a waiver stating this.0 -

It’s not all it’s your work colleagues.
If you had a problem with it you needed to sort it out and complain AT THE TIME. You could have blacked it out. You could have done many things.
You don’t get to complain two months later when your affair has gone wrong. Your work is not responsible for your love life, you are!!0 -

I DID complain at the time. It's in an area the public could access.
What if a stranger took my number and something happened?
Maybe everyone wouldn't be taking the mickey...0 -
Take a look at this:

Sure you will find the answer there. If your employer has breached the DPA then complain to:

With that in mind, when you received the first text from the person, did you...
a) Ignore the message & take the phone as soon as practically possible to show the manager you complained to, saying "see this is why I complained?"
or
b) Reply to the persons messages which then started the affair?Dwy galon, un dyhead,

You said yourself that the public don’t access it. And what exactly could a stranger do with your phone number? Send you a creepy message and you block it? A stranger cannot harm you with a phone number.
You had a responsibility yourself. You could have moved the list to a staff room and informed your manager why. You could have removed your name. You could have made an actual complaint about it rather than a flippant one.
Why didn’t you do any of the above things?
You will not be taken seriously complaining at least two months after the event.0 -

You’re a manager as well though, according to other posts (you also don’t mind breaching the DPA when moseying on other people’s computers.)
If you’re a manager you had a responsibility as well.
1. To uphold the DPA and voice your concerns.
2. Not to negate your complaints by sh**ging the person you are complaining is texting you!0
