Onwards and the debt goes downwards!

There's a lot to be said about carrying the mental load all of the time. When I've spoken to Mr S about it he was surprised when I described having a constant swirl of "to-do's" in my head, he said he doesn't ever have that issue!!3

@scandimore, I feel your pain. I do feel like I have a 5th child. He has phoned to apologise, it'll be niceness and thoughtfulness for a week before its back to square one.

That's very irritating. I don't even try to delegate life admin tasks to MrBC - it takes longer to explain them, remember to remind him not to forget than it does for me to do it myself.
he does do lots of other things though so I'm ok with the division of labour.
I try to explain where all our accounts/paperwork is but i think it goes in one ear and out the other , I now start the explanation with "if I went under a bus you would need to be able to find this". The going under a bus was always a dire warning as a child - "follow the green cross code or ......you'll end up under a bus"2 -
Oh heck L I truly do feel your disappointment on this one. I've had some conversations with MrEH recently around the question of "Yes, but why should I need to ask for help...?" - this stems from the oft repeated response when I get frustrated about feeling as though I do almost all the household stuff of "Will, you didn't ask" - my point is that we both live there, and so I shouldn't need to ask. Also things being just left about - my take on this is that something that needs throwing away or putting somewhere, if not dealt with is "being left for me to deal with" - but MrEH will say that it isn't, it's just that he hasn't dealt with it....well in that case, who the heck he thinks will I have NO idea! He is getting better since I've adopted an approach of just noting out loud various jobs that need to be done - that's been surprisingly effective and deals with the issue that I think a number of us find that sometimes our respective OH's just don't see the jobs that are outstanding.
BC - the financial stuff is something that we have now got nailed - although I deal with most of it, there are certain things that MrEH has to take on - so his own car insurance, tax, and MoT test etc, and sometimes research on various financial bits as well. In addition, I do expect that he keeps a good knowledge of what gets paid out to where, and when, purely from that aspect of "under a bus" - I quiz him occasionally to make sure his knowledge isn't slipping!

It’s good to read I’m not the only one. Totally with you EH on the thugs left about. We had words about the boxes that needed recycling. In better news I’ve won on the PBs however I still can’t get in so don’t know how much. First win since August. Now have to wait for all the paperwork again (I thought it was sorted from last time).I’ve also managed to find a dog groomer, who is nearer and cheaper than the other person. It’s still more than I was paying but bearable. Booked in for January as that’s the only time she’s got to do all 3. As I’ve just located and removed a hairy armpit of mats (the dog not me) it can’t come soon enough.LTotal Debt Dec 07 £59875.83 Overdrafts £2900,New Debt Figure ZERO !!!!!!:j 08/06/2013

Sorry you are frustrated over DH. I totally get it as that was my marital experience too.
Hope things improve for you. Sounds a win on the groomers - and well done for dealing with them in the meantime.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Matting indeed could be an issue for me going forwards, it’s winter and I ditch the razor. When I walk down the hall and feel the breeze wafting through the old leg hair I know it’s time to french plait!!
DD1 was quite upset last night. She found out a chap she worked for (and liked) had committed suicide. He leaves 2 young children. I know nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors, it’s very, very sad.DS2 is back but only temporarily before he goes skiing on Saturday. Really hope the change of scene helps to lighten his mood a bit.Had a shift last night, it went ok and should have one today.Went into the town to get a sack of dog food. Had lunch out, they served our food to somebody else fetched it over to us but it was cold so sent it back. It was ok and we’d give them another try as this was the first time we went.LTotal Debt Dec 07 £59875.83 Overdrafts £2900,New Debt Figure ZERO !!!!!!:j 08/06/2013
