Well she’s moved back in. They’ve still got to sort out the camper van they bought together and converted.

Work has been ok. Got the opticians tomorrow and then I’ll be going in. I have a difference of opinion with HR regarding the number of hours holiday I had for December. HR are saying it’s 10 the government website says 12. HR say there’s is right and the government one is wrong.  Hmm asked my manager to look into it.

  • Worst case scenario would you be happy to agree with them that you split the difference at 11?  I'd highly doubt that the government site has it wrong to be honest, but the path of least resistance may be the way forwards perhaps. I would say that you'll want to keep an eye on things and make sure that this isn't a precedent for them routinely trying to short change employees on this sort of thing, though.

I probably would've let it ride but when they said the website was wrong, I was like, really!

I've paid off the credit card and had hoped to only have a small amount to pay next month and then hopefully not use it for a bit.  I don't feel like I've had a zero balance for ages.  Needed to get new glasses today £190 I've got £170 in glasses pot so a small shortfall.  Also just had to buy DD1 a new mattress as the bed she's using is getting moved to DD2s new house.  Luckily my friend still has one of our bed bases which she's kindly let me have back.

So Saturday is going to be busy.  Meet DD2 at home, load up with things here, go to DS1s hopefully drop off a fridge freezer for him to take when he moves in February and collect the rest of DD2s stuff.  Drop DD2s stuff at new house and then go to friends house and get bed base, come home and collapse in a heap.

    Sounds full on.

I'd hold out for the extra hours holiday too but I am that person.

In my experience calculating part time annual leave entitlement is not a skill set apparent in many HR teams (and I work in HR and have often been surprised at the methodology and bizarre calculations my colleagues have tried).  I think that the number of businesses using the government calculation would indicate that 12 hours is correct.

Well that’s everything moved to where it needs to be. DD1 s bed frame is in the garage I’ll give it a clean tomorrow. The mattress should be here on Tuesday.
Another busy week coming up, 3 days at work. Thursday need to take the pick up for a service. The garage will drop me off in the little town and I’ll have a few hours to kill. Thursday afternoon accountant is coming to finalise tax return (deep joy).
Friday OH has a hospital appointment and I’ll go with him.
Ohhh Wednesday night we’re off to the theatre with some friends.

  • Hope you manage to get your annual leave sorted, I would favour government site!

Sounds really busy with family, hope you enjoy the theatre.

It really does sound all go with you, but also that things are ticking along quite nicely. Good that the bed costs only extended to the mattress in the end too.

You've reminded me too - I MUST get my eye test booked - it's been pushed back thanks to house related stuff but I have no excuse now! (And should get it done before I feel I ought to spend my hard-saved glasses money into the general new house funds!)

Annual leave is sorted and funnily enough the government website was correct!
New glasses should be in this week.
Shopping has increased again. Needed some tomato sauce and Heinz ketchup was £3.99!!!! It stayed on the shelf, I normally buy own brand but they didn’t have any. Is it ever going to stop  increasing?
