Do you need to say it's home made? It might be the thought of HM rather than the taste IYSWIM? I know my dad doesn't eat my christmas cake until two days after I encourage him to and looks at it suspiciously like I am going to poison him :rotfl: then he raves about it until it's gone, then forgets and does the same thing the next year!
Don't worry! He will love it! I'm sure!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
Yep, I'd be tempted to ask your OH for some cooking tips as he's obviously such an expert. Have him cook a couple of dinners a week and try not to give him a taste of his own medicine.
If you think he's not keen because some of your recipes are under-seasoned, try bunging some Marmite in. This won't help make salads not have "funny stuff" in them, so just cut out the funny stuff and grate some carrots and shred some lettuce. Daft sod!0 -
The thing is , I never ever buy soup, I cook everything from scratch. But this time I was trying to make it nicer !! LOLOL !
Yes, from now on he can have a grated carrot on half a lettuce and bloody well like it.0 -
Sounds like my OH is not the only finicky miserable SOB around! Know exactly what you mean, Mardatha, you try and cook proper home made stuff within your budget and his Lordship moans that it's not something and chips or tinned processed peas or loads of really expensive red meat - not that there is anything wrong with those things, but sometimes your taste buds cry out for healthy homecooked food with plenty of good quality veg and fruit. Some OHs have no idea do they? Arsenic sandwich, anybody? One life - your life - live it!0

mine are the same! i asked if they want cake they say 'did you make it?' if i say 'yes' they say 'no then'
i just cant cook either everything turns out wrong, i must perservere though because processed food is now a thing of the past,
also i havent really got an excuse because i've won some nice cookery books over the years0 -
I hate to depress everybody, but I been married for 44 years and haven't mastered it yet ! :rotfl:0

What do you think they taste like.
Years ago I used to make soup and my OH used to say it was rubbish but I have to say I admit it was.
Always tasted like bits of stuff in boiled water however hard I tried.
I've started making it again more recently and put loads more seasoning in and we now both say its good.GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

If he is always going to moan, then just make stuff that YOU think tastes good, since he is going to complain anyway, what's the point in trying to please him? If he really won't eat it, give him beans on toast instead...Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Did you like the things you cooked Mardatha? If you did then I'm afraid it's his problem not your cooking.0

to be honest I havent been very well and not up to eating much at all. But I didnt find anything specifically wrong with the food. I think you're right - I should go back to PFPD....plain food, plonked down !0
