OH can't think more than three days ahead so the day he cooks can't be included in the weekly meal plan and shopping.
Having bragged about my OH yesterday, must say two cooks in the house is not always bliss. We're just back from backpacking round the South of France and now he wants to make Cassoulet with Duck Confit. He bought the Duck and last night I said there's some tins of cannelini beans in the cupboard. "Oh no, I'll use the dried ones and do it properly"

"Well if you want us to eat it tomorrow, you'll need to put them on to soak now"

He didn't, so we had fish fingers and yesterdays salad tonight.

I'm out all day tomorrow visiting Aged Parent in Distant County: one bus, two trains, one taxi, then the same in reverse, arriving home cold, tired and hungry, so was hoping to come home to the Cassoulet. So I said:

"Well if you want us to eat it tomorrow, you'll need to put them on to soak now" It's nearly 9pm and he still hasn't done it. If I do it, he'll say "Oh I wanted to do that" Can't win, canya ?

Scarlett, If you have both had the LBM, and if you are now dealing with things, which you seem to be, your OH's IBS may well improve as it is often related to stress.

Hiding reality from yourself doesn't work as your unconscious mind knows EXACTLY what's going on and tries to give you a wake up call by giving you something nasty. Been there, worn the tee-shirt, problem pretty well sorted - IBS not been around full time for 5 years or so, only on the odd occasion when I'm super stressed.

Good luck. ;)
• I take back everything I said. Just come home cold and exhausted to a great big pot of Cassoulet, which will last us days. He's on a roll now, talking of Boulliabaise...

Good grief !

My OH is so grateful to have someone cook him a meal as exwife never cooked !!! He lived off cheese sandwiches so is delighted to come home to my home cooking :D

I could have written conradmum's post myself LOL !

In my house I cook therefore I choose - if they don't like it they help themselves to cereal :)

To be honest tho, they mostly like what I cook these days and what DS didn't like before, he learned to like after being [strike]forced [/strike]encouraged to eat it ;) Except mushrooms so he picks them out and I get them :rotfl:

My ex-bf used to be a fussy eater. Given the choice as to what to have for dinner it would've been take away or ready meal. He lived by the motto, food should take longer to eat than cook. This used to drive me mad. So I pointed out that would mean no more roast dinners ever. By the time we split up - 4 years later - he was no longer a fussy eater and had what he was given. He even complained he missed my cooking after we split

• Gggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrr@men. We've (very luckily I know) just got back from holiday and I did a shop yesterday with a meal plan for the month and OH turned around at
the last minute and said 'I don't fancy that tonight'. Admittedly, I can freeze what I'd planned but now he's madeimself a sausage sandwich and now I can't be @rsed to cook just for me so I'll end up with toast.

Am I being too controlling or does it pee you off when OH/family mess with your meal plans?
Its nice to be important but more important to be nice!
• It winds me up as well. It's usually my eldest who says that. Most of the time I say tough !!!!, it's what we're having. Occasionally I'll swap a day if convenient or I'll tell her she has to help me make the alternative.

Someone I know used to make 4 different meals every night because she used to ask DH and 2x DD what they wanted for dinner!

PS - If it's just me, I always end up having toast.
• My hubby knows better than to try that one.
He knows my reply would be,
"Tough bickies mate"
