Ftb jitters?

Hi everyone, we are almost at point of exchange. We are awaiting responses from the vendor regarding a few points. I have chased up with estate agent getting these points answered.
The problem is, we are wondering if this is the right house for us? Is it the right location etc? Is this normal?!
It is 8 mile from where we are Now, however the house is attached to social housing and next door also have spread themselves out along the shared accessway at the rear of the garden. There is a covenant in place stating we shod pay for upkeep of this area .the neighbour has placed a large shipping container straddling a part of the shared accessway and the dyke behind it. This is directly behind our fence. They have also parked their car there and there is quite a bit of scrap in front of the container. I do have pics but cannot upload them to this thread.
Another concern for me is the poor transport links to the local town which might hinder our children as they grow.
In short we are unsure about the purchase...is this normal?

I think anyone would be worried about a shipping container in part of a shared access as it shows that the neighbours who put it there have no consideration for anyone else.0
-
Given the fact you have doubts and quite rightly so from what you have described I think you have already talked yourself out of it. To be honest, I would be concerned about the neighbours as a bad neighbour can turn a dream home into a nightmare. Speak to the vendor and other people in the vicinity to try and gauge if there is a bad vibe about the neighbour.Darren :beer:0

It's perfectly normal to have the jitters over a first purchase, but it's also a red flag when you see that a neighbour is treating a shared area as if they own it. The fact that they are also fly tipping would be a further nail in the coffin IMO.0

Don't go through with it if you're not 100% sure. The neighbours sound like people you'd go out of your way to avoid, they're not going to get any better. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

That is our concern too, he has various sheds in his garden and seems to have extended it past his land onto the shared accessway.I have reported it to the council for investigation. I have lived near many inconsiderate neighbours and it does make things so difficult.
We have progressed with the survey, which was carried out 9th jan and raised a few issues about the roof and a few other bits. we are awaiting feedback from the vendor regarding a few points and they are taking forever so I called the estate agent today to let them know we are tired of waiting.
The solicitor is enquiring about indemnity and building regulations- i have asked what this is in relation to. They say it concerns a breach of covenant for which we may be liable as it has not passed 20yrs.
it is lovely house and in our price range, I just dont know why I am having this change of heart!0 -

On one of the property forms it asks about neighbour disputes, to which none have been disclosed. The owners have rented it out for the past x amount of years and it currently sits empty.0 -
Id stay clear OP if it were me, sounds like it could turn into a neighbour from hell from what you describe.0
-
I’d also stay clear. If it’s sitting empty with no tenant or owner occupier and it’s such a nice house that would make me think. With regard disputes not being disclosed, unless they are on public record and can be discovered I think most sellers would rather keep that information away from possible buyers.Darren :beer:0

I think it's blatantly obvious, the neighbour. Just walk away.0 -
Given what you describe, I think your fears are valid ones. Sounds like this would be a problematic neighbour.
I would walk away from this one too.0
