the op asked a question that only needed a simple yes or no
not for his thread to be hijacked an turned in to a political/moral/ethical/contractual...ect debate
I did actually answer it correctly, but then the mob turned on me.:rotfl:
Wait till they turn on you next for your post.....Why should it only be the council who can stop people taking the !!!!
Then the companies will need to lobby their MPs and get them to change the law.0 -
I've just read this post and I may be miles out with this.
But what if the op Wife had shopped else where. On the way back to her car she saw the ticket attentant near by so nipped in to Asda and brought something quick. Receipt was timed two mins before her ticket was.
May be her car had been seen by the attentant half an hour earlier or maybe she was carrying other shops bags.
My Asda also uses this paying system and they always give you ten mins grace in case you are getting change or just buying something in a hurry.
Just a thought (She runs for cover)0 -

Thats not the question. The question is can a private parking company issue fines,
evenYou do have a point that it is not a fine but an invoice
And even then, are they enforceable in a court of law (which if they were I think there would at least be 1 instance where a case was actually heard), but theres not.0 -
well i guess the concensus is that legally you dont have to pay it. And in the case of the OP that is fair (overall as she did technically pay...)
as far as somebodies comment about this being a discussion as whether its ok 'to allow unfair charges to be legal'.... i think thats the point i was trying to make.. i REALLY cant see how anyone could see these charges as being unfair...(except where there are mitigating circumstances)
but yeah legally. dont pay. but as a word of non-legal advice... just use your noggin next time...0 -
That people seem to think the "thanks" button is in someway relevant to this thread, baffles me. Yes I thank people if I think there posts are "fair", wether or not I agree with their opinion. The "thanks" button doesnt prove a thing either "for" or "against". I am less concerned about who agrees with who on here, or who thanked who. That someone may not agree with you, doesnt make you right or wrong. That someone is upset that some may disagree with them, tells me they are self opinionated on the matter, insisting "I am right" and "you are wrong".
Personally, I dont know who is right or wrong as like I have stated previously, I dont know of any shops near me that do charge for using their car park. Saying that, if there was signposts informing me of such, I would be made aware of it, and pay the fee, because I would think that was the right thing to do.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Perhaps you should shop at 99.9% of stores who REFUND any cash you spend on parking whilst at their store. usually you jsut take half the ticket stub instore with you n get it refunded. :beer:0

Not true if this report is correct, S&B Parking were successful against three people -

I'm sure they must miss your financial input!
Your posts are very confrontational and bordering on unpleasant (quote "silly cow still hasn't apologised to me" unquote). Since you're so hot on the rules of MSE, you should take note of the one that says -Pls be nice to all MoneySavers. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
