Asda Car parking ticket

My wife recently parked at asda with no change for a ticket and went and did her shopping (in Asda) when she came back the guy was putting a ticket on her window, she showed him the reciept but got no joy, she came home and told me so I looked on the internet about this and was more or less told it's illegal to make someone pay a fine without taking them to court first , since then I've had 2 letters from town and country parking which I ignored (following advice I read on the net) now I've had 2 letters from a debt company . can they make me pay the fine ?:p

at your asda do you have to pay for a ticket to park? If she had no change could she not have got some at the customer service desk and thus got a ticket?Weight Loss - 102lb0

this is a consumer vent board, you have 11000 plus posts and your post is to ridicule me ,, she was in asda for five minutes to buy something from the chemist are you saying if she waits in line at the customer service desk for 15 minutes to get change for the machine and then went back to the car park bought a ticket the attendent would just say no problem I'll cancell the ticket, when he wouldn't even cancel it when she showed him a reciept 3 minutes old, it's people with your attitude that run these sort of companys0 -

I think you are overreacting to or misinterpreting hjb123s post.
I understand you are frustrated and worried about the probably threatening letters you have been getting and I think you need to give hjb123 the credit that his/her suggestion was an innocent rather than a sarcastic one.
As for the purpose of your post, you do not have to pay,you say that you have checked out some websites, does that include pepipoo?
If not go on to their parking tickets forum for comprehensive advice including what to write to debt collectors, something along the lines of "this debt is in dispute" which requires them to refer it back to the parking company.0 -
Thanks Niel I've printed the letter off and I'l post it tomorrow , I'll keep you posted on what happens0

I didnt realise Asda had a parking fee, I know the one I go to doesnt although they do have a policy when the football is on that they will fine anyone who parks there with the intention of going to the match, (Arena is just across the road from them) which is fair enough.
But should they introduce a scheme where I would have to pay a parking fee to shop with them, I would happily take my custom elsewhere.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Would you do the same in a city centre? Course not - you would ensure you had the money beforehand. I cant offer specidic advise regards the legalities but i would imagine if their conditions are you must pay then im not sure what your argument is0 -
I would imagine if one was to go shopping in the City Centre, one would assume there would be a parking fee. But I personally dont know of any Tesco, Asda, B&Q, Homecare, Dixons, Currys or MFI store that had a parking fee for their own customers, at least not around here,
I am sure they do exist, particularly in Shopping Centres or Squares, Arndale centres or Shopping Arcades and yes particularly City Centre shopping. But isnt that more likely because the customer is shopping at an array of stores rather than A particular store.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

My point is he/she was aware of the charge and chose to ignore it and fail to see why anyone is to blame other than the OP0

I think it's your attitude mate. If you wife displayed the same attitude to the attendent no wonder he wouldn't budge on the ticket. Sort your attitude out. People are offering advice and you jump down their throat. What a phucking knob:mad:Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings
