I would have to admit if you were aware of a parking fee, and chance not to pay, inevitably you take the risk of getting a fine.

I would imagine if one was to go shopping in the City Centre, one would assume there would be a parking fee. But I personally dont know of any Tesco, Asda, B&Q, Homecare, Dixons, Currys or MFI store that had a parking fee for their own customers, at least not around here,

Some city centre supermarkets do have parking fees, but often they waive the fee if you have spent £x on shopping there. It stops people using the car park for free but not shopping at the store.
  • We had on eof these systems in our asda, i think people are getting confused over what type of parking meter we are talking about here. the asda ones i know of, you put in the machine say 50p and you have 2parts to the ticket, put 1 half in the car other you take to the till when u but shopping and they give you the 50p back, so it is free as long as you shop there, they do it to stop people from ripping the pee out of their car park and going into town that sort of thing, so i do think that asda should look at this fine again as she did go in to purchase something.

Problem is if there is no record of the time the ticket was given they could say she had been parked there for longer than just to pop into asda i guess you might need some proof of time of ticket not just the recipet.

Its very annoying to have to have change on you which you get back anyway just to pop in asda i can see why she chanced it ad they dont make it easy for you to get change these days with all card payments averywhere!
  • Go to http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=30 and they will advise you on how to treat this invoice (its not a fine or penalty). Best of luck.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

If this is the same as your asda, then she should have known to keep 50p in the car! Chuck 50p and £1 in the cigarette compartment and you know your always fine for parking change or supermarket trolleys! yes parking fines are annoying, but when you ignore the rules, its gonna happen!

It's not a fee you buy a ticket and then get the pound refunded at the checkout

she was in the store a few minutes she bought one item

the time is on the reciept 2 mins before he wrote the ticket

she had no change is this now a crime

if she waited a customer services for change it would have taken longer

I'm so glad to hear that so many of you think what she did deserves a £50.00 fine
  • yes we do! we're all saying, she obviously knew about the parking system and should have had change, so wat if she had a receipt, rules r rules! who's with me?!

I once went shopping in the city centre on saturday afternoon and didnt have any change to buy a ticket . When I returned from shopping a traffic warden had put a ticket on my windscreen ....bloody jobsworth.
I explained to him that I had no change and he didn`t seem to care.
Whats the counrty coming to when we are expected to carry change for parking?
They`ll be fining us for not paying council tax because we cannot find our cheque books next.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.
