MSE News: Waitrose to scrap "confusing" offer

Very quiet in our Waitrose today.
Unusually so for a saturday.
Cafe was quiet as well.0 -
Got my vouchers today. I shop mainly in Waitrose and I've been diligently getting my card swiped every time to see what would happen:
So crappy recipe/advertorial booklet (the editorial process for which must have been google some food related puns and expand on that) , and a wad of card vouchers glued to each other and to the wallet so they rip when you try to extract them. Out of twelve vouchers four are not targeted (and fortunately the one whose barcode was obliterated trying to remove it from the wallet was one of these). However the value of the remaining 8 vouchers is a mere £7.50, which is much lower than the last lot of vouchers, and doesn't even compare to PYO. As far as I'm concerned is simply not worth my time & effort to flash my card, and I'm what you might consider part of their core customer base. So that's that, no more spending data for you Waitrose
Edited to add - for three months shopping, that £7.50 is going to be worth about 30p to 50p per shop - compare that to PYO
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
I used to always have my Pick List full and make good use of it. Mainly because it worked so well with Multi buys as it gave you the 20% off the single price even if it was in a Multi Buy. I was getting Fairy Washing Liquid 24 washes for about £2.30 each and have quite a few left. Also when using a money off voucher the prices of single items before multi buy were counted for total so you could use a £5.00 off £40.00 without actually spending that.
I think this has more to do with Waitrose withdrawing the offer than anything else.
I really only visit my store when my favourite butcher is working as he gives me extra discounts as he likes me.0 -
Got my second lot of vouchers today, so that looks like it's once a quarter then.
30p off "fruit", 30p off "vegetables", and four vouchers for £4 off £40.
My average spend in Waitrose is probably two or three quid and I doubt I've ever gone above £20. So basically just 60p worth of vouchers. Not a patch on 20% off about a third of the things I used to buy!0 -
I don't even bother showing my Waitrose card when I shop there - which is far less frequently now. In fact, the few things that I want which I can only get from Waitrose, I tend to save up for when I place the occasional order with Ocado.
It was a badly thought out scheme in the first place but the retraction of it has just compounded the mess they've made.0 -
never received any vouchers must check my account.
Think this is bad for Waitose combined with the removal of cups for free coffee. Bound to lose custom I think.0 -

No vouchers here either, like so many others. Waitrose, perhaps sadly, is now very much a spent force.
So many of its customers have now defected to Aldi and Lidl (the new ‘smart’ places to shop for the affluent middle class chatterati) that it’s at serious risk.
It’s not going to survive in its present form just on top-up shops, and that’s very much starting now to be the case.0 -
If you've had no vouchers, the advice on Facebook, from their customer service on there, is to ring them on 0800 188884.
I did, and the excuse for not sending out vouchers is:
a) we're not sending them out to everyone all the time, your turn will come
b) the new GDPR - you have to log into your account, select "My Account", scroll down to "My Details", and click on "Marketing preferences". He said I should have had an email.
c) getting vouchers "regularly" - "Regularly" is open to interpretation
But as this is now the end of May, that it just hasn't been my turn yet cut no ice here.
Told the guy exactly why I was currently getting nothing out of their scheme, with the loss of the cheap coffee in the cafe being the last straw, and also told him our local Tesco's is getting busier while Waitrose gets quieter.
He arranged for me to (finally) get some vouchers - 30p each off fruit and veg, and 4 Save £3 off £30 vouchers (which I can't use all of them as they're only valid until 10 June(!)), AND a £10 voucher. Which is better! You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
