They will cancel the insurance because you are using your vehicle outside the terms of the policy.. The terms being that the vehicle must be taxed / MOT'd, in a safe condition etc etc.

You would, why bother with it when you can just make it up as you go along.0 -
S165 concerns powers of requesting details, if you are a driver, on a road, they can request it, simple as that.0

Here is the Tesco Car Insurance full policy details:

During your eight years in the industry your employers will no doubt have encouraged you to familiarise yourself with this EU Directive (which still applies in the UK):
http://www.cobx.org/Content/Default.asp?PageID=58&DocID=27195
Article 13 on page 10 explains how any exclusion clauses such as you mention, if included, will be void. That's why insurers do not bother to include them. There is a similar provision under UK law but I can't immediately find it and I'm off to bed.0 -

I can't see it on mine or my wife's policy.
That aside, if someone selling a car who is unwilling to tax it and check it's insured for the prospective purchaser, or failing that a suitable off publicly accessible roads area to test drive it, I would not be a prospective purchaser any longer...0 -

The car I have in mind has been SORNed.
As it isn’t road taxed ... how can I take it for a test drive?
Is there a provision for this in the law?
Thanks.
One way would be to pay a local garage to come and take it out on their trade plates and give you an assessment of the car. If you find one close to the seller, you might be able to do a deal where they collect it, put it on a ramp and give it a look over and return it to the seller - it would cost a few hours labour but might be worth it.0 -
The car in question has just and I mean just, gone through the MOT with no advisories.
There had been two advisories outstanding when he bought the car in October and he’s had all that done.
Totally new exhaust, new tyres, done on top of the advisories.
Reason for selling is that the car is that it’s too big for his wife (she is a short lady I met her).
It unnerved her so it has to go.** Freebies and money saved with the help of you all? - Don't know ....lost count! **** Stay Safe **0
