Road test ... no tax. Help please.

    No you couldn't as DOC cover doesn't cover other cars owned by yourself.

  • You will likely find that your fully comp cover will cover you to drive other cars that are not owned by you and that are insured. It won't be insured if it's not taxed, so no cover under your policy.

    It might be insured and the OP’s policy may still cover them if it’s not.

    how do you take it for its mot if tax has expired?

    I have 4 motorcycles sat in garage , 2 are not taxed but two are , all are insured

  • If the car is not taxed it cannot be driven on the road, unless in exceptional circumstances which do not include a test drive.

    A condition of a motor insurance policy will be that the car is taxed or else there would be no cover, in which case, the car is uninsured.

    We are not talking about a trader here, we are talking about a private sale.

    You are covered by exception to use on the road. My point is, that once you drive the car for a purpose other than an exception, it is not insured for the purpose for which it is being used.
