My DD and fake tan in the bathroom/tomato pasta bake in the kitchen/spilled milk on the counter tops/etc.  She just doesn't seem to see the mess 🤦🏼‍♀️

Your leg must be healing a bit with you resting it.  Hopefully that continues x

  • Hi EH - I wouldn't have lived to tell the tale either - but I didn't want my kids to grow up in fear... it's a hard balance.

I most certainly didn't "grow up in fear" - but I did grow up knowing that the roof over your head and the contents therein were to be respected - I think there's a difference. To clarify - my comment wasn't intended as any sort of criticism, it was just genuine astonishment at that sort of behaviour.

  • Sorry to hear it's a moving pain.

I think you are starting to realise you can't currently do loads, standing or sitting in one place won't help. I'm assuming you are trying to take your weight off your one leg when standing?

Have you a foot rest at work, just to elevate it a bit? It would be a reasonable adjustment to request one.

What footwear are you in? Soft and spongy insoles to give you a bit of comfort or are you in office shoes with not much sole?

Have you tried a tens machine yet? It blocks the pain signals getting to your brain (no driving while it's switched on), costs about £10 in the chemist. Your physio should have one you can try / borrow to see if it helps.

Are you managing to get enough sleep? It's a big ask when in pain as every time you turn over, the pain wakes you up. But you have to try and find a way to rest your mind and body; the body repairs itself when asleep.

How much of your week is working? Should you ask for more home working to take the strain off your leg?

Any further forward with the gym and swimming? I think the swimming would help you a lot!

How long until your glasses are ready? Or are they made as you wait? It's always the 'little' extras that bump the cost up (thanks for reminding me to book my eye test!)

Have you suitable lighting when you do your crafting? Even a table lamp type lamp will give you extra light; it's also difficult to do crafting in winter due to the lack of natural light.

How was your lunch? I've only had Indian once since I moved up here, not bad considering I used to live on the stuff!

Thanks EH  -I give her the benefit of the doubt due to ASD but its frustrating.

I increased my hours slightly today - but not at target. I had a lot of pain today - and struggled with concentration. I did manage to get extra physio approved and have an appointment tomorrow. Hopefully I can then chase the GP for x-ray results and see if the letter from the physio arrived. I still need to investigate possible consultants to get referred to but unsure what criteria to use to weigh one against the other.

DH is going out tonight which is a shame for me but I don't want to go where he's going. I'm in hibernation mode still.  A friend has reached out to perhaps meet for lunch so will try and sort something out. Our house is a tip - but our cleaner comes tomorrow - she's a lifesaver.

I may try some other painting techniques later and see how I get on. One's that don't use such a scary amount of paint and pouring medium. I did two really nice pictures last night on bigger canvases - they are still drying. I've been watching some of those '10 minute landscape' type pictures on utube so planning to give either a misty wood or an African tree a go or both and see how I get on. I've not done any 'traditional' art painting since I was about 14!

I'm assuming you are trying to take your weight off your one leg when standing?- Not necessarily - although that's an exercise the physio has suggested I do on both legs to strengthen the muscle.
Have you a foot rest at work, just to elevate it a bit? It would be a reasonable adjustment to request one. - No but unless it my leg is level with my seat I don't feel the benefit. My boss has let me work from home all week this week - possibly barring one meeting with her.
What footwear are you in? Soft and spongy insoles to give you a bit of comfort or are you in office shoes with not much sole? - I'm currently wearing supportive trainers which make a big diference
Have you tried a tens machine yet? . - I do have one from 16 years ago LOL - I could see if it still works
How much of your week is working? Last week I averaged .3.5 hours a day. This week it should have been 4.5 but not managed it yet.
Any further forward with the gym and swimming? - No keep ducking this one
How long until your glasses are ready? Roughly 2 weeks

I had a go at an African style painting. The good news is you could tell what it was supposed to be! I didn't like it. Will probably paint over it at some point - have to start somewhere though. I will try again. I took a photo so I can track my progress. I did another shades of red, gold and yellow acrylic pour (small square one) - it turned out nice.
