Sounds like you are busy trying to sort your house out but I would advise exercising caution on buying too much initially and waiting until you have lived in it a while as just you. Also all these small purchases add up and I am guessing money will be a bit tighter so you do not want to end up in debt. They all sound great though.
Hope you feel better soon. I had my Covid booster and Flu jab today but the nurse ended up making me bleed and I have two matching bruises on both arms. DH has recently been through open heart surgery so he opted for one at a time which I am now wishing I did too.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I’m going to echo what others have said re just changing the locks - remember also you ideally need to find a secure location for spare sets of keys outside the house so that may have implications too.It sounds like a gentle restful weekend is needed to try to get over your cold - you don’t want your first few days of freedom to be marred by being bunged up and snotty! 🤧🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks Mark, Tahlullah, Bella, Sandy, Lifestarts, ES and EH.
Still ill today. I am debating changing the locks. I was originally going to change the whole door as a more subtle way of achieving that. But decided that was way too expensive. Will see if I have a problem first.
I have given a neighbour a key for emergency use and I have hers.
I am picking up a side table for a fiver tomorrow that I plan to upcycle. I may even follow Bella's example and try using resin.
I have bought some stuff to allow me to upcycle furniture including stuff to mix my own chalk paint. As individual colours are ridiculously expensive. I will let you know how it goes once I start.
I have a fun £ and art £ pot and it is one of my top priorities for my new life. I do agree though @enthusiasticsaver that I mustn't get too carried away.
I have pretty much said I will not get Xmas gifts for most people this year or tokens at most. On Monday I should hopefully be picking up vintage comics for my brother for £5 from FB etc. I have just bought a sis a v0gu3 cover reprint from the 20s for £7.
I am giving 2 of my nephews Lego from DS and £2 of second hand books. Going to look for something in a CS for the other 3 littlies. Older nieces and nephews aren't getting anything.
Need to get something for my parents. My own kids I have set a strict budget for so should be fine. Don't buy for parents of littlies although they might get some artAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Great idea to have a fun pot and an art one so they don’t impede on your normal household bills. All your upcycling projects sound very interesting. Good plans for Christmas too.
DH is fine after his Covid jab but I have two aching arms so taken paracetamol to get me through my 8 mile hike on Dartmoor today. Your upcycle purchases sound great, I'm looking forward to hearing how things progress over time.
Gifts sound great too, a lot of thought behind them.

Glad you are feeling better ES. Paracetamol to get you through an 8 mile hike with aching arms - sounds hardcore!
It's taken the whole weekend but I am finally feeling more human. I'm supposed to be on leave tomorrow and Tuesday but have been asked to do some urgent work. I am hoping it takes half a day to a day tops. I have to be up early for DD tomorrow - so think I will just do it straight after and get it over with. I should then be able to tag some more time off later in the week. With DD having been home and us both being ill it's not been as restful a time as I'd hoped.
DD walked pooch yesterday. Ex took the dog back at midday today and gave me his key. He says MIL has lost hers - which seems likely as she's not used it since the kids left primary school. (She lives about an hour away by car - so not like she or he is around the corner). He took fresh meter readings - so I need to tell the energy company. Having the dog again next weekend for a few hours as DD is going to a meal with MIL and his side of the family. Not sure when I'll see the dog after that... Not having a dog around does make it easier to go out for the day. Cats are a lot less demanding... (Keep telling myself that). The dog is gorgeous to hug and cuddle though and full of love.
I've literally just rested this weekend - not even cooked - as I'm trying to pace myself so I get well quicker. Once DD is out of the house - I plan to take some photos of stuff and list them on FB and try and sell them.
I still need to fill the holes in the study / art room and then paint the walls white. Once I've painted the walls - I can move my office stuff out of my living room which will be amazing!! Separation of work and life... Ideally, I then need to change the curtains over... I have some nice silver wave ones I want to put up but it requires rings which I don't think we still have - and probably a second pair of hands. I also need to put all the hooks back in the right places and reconnect the lining where it's come loose. I will therefore aim to do that on Wednesday while my cleaner is here.
I'm debating selling a desk I bought last August - and 2 older 1k3a units. 1k3a stuff seems to hold its value. I hate getting rid of storage though - it's so handy... The desk I may put in DS's old room for when he's home at xmas as his is literally falling apart. However thinking about it - it has a glass top - and if it fit on this downstairs desk - I could use it for projects in the garage. It's the legs that are goosed I think. I need to take a proper look. My new desk is not yet assembled as the electronic screwdriver went missing. I'm going to have to buy my own tools now as Ex took most of his as we'd agreed. I think it will be strangely freeing - as I used to get him to do stuff - partly because I resented how little he did - but then hated the fact he kept me waiting. Now I can just get it done... Once I've worked out how... Hello Utube
I got some food delivered today so am all stocked up. I've got enough meat for a couple of weeks I reckon - if I'm careful. I froze some straightaway. Should be fruit, veg and milk (and staples like chocolate) that need stocking up rather than everything else.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
