The top bar table was £149, the or £190 adjustable height desk or get a slab top type desk and use adjustable height legs.
I think the top one looked smarter but the more expensive one might be better as I could put it at different heights depending on what I was doing. If I got the slab type desk I would probably want two to get the width I want but then I would have to put it in the current study or the garage as I think it would be too wide for the bay window area I want it to sit in.
Lots of bar stools on FB though
I am not doing any of this yet... Just dreaming

Love it. I'm going to have a desk in my space and I've also left room for a separate sewing table with storage. There's loads of ideas on pinterest and youtube using Ikea shelves and putting wheels on to move it around a little more easily. Really exciting. Its going to be my little haven. Something to dream about and look forward to."Think of many things, do one"

Just found the height adjustable one on FB. It has a couple of screws missing but still works apparently. When I first looked at the ad it was £100 - now just been reduced to £80. I may go and buy it tomorrow as that's less than half the original price. It's a bit of a trek but with the reduction should be worth it.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I bought myself a tiny desk for £24 after the first lockdown - expecting to be at home only a few months. It's still in my living room 14 months on. As part of the divorce I will get 2 rooms Ex is currently using. I want a bigger desk upstairs as part of recreating a study / writing room / WFH room - and a table / desk for my art downstairs. I may then sell the original desk or upcycle it. I have also made enquiries about an 1k3a glass top for £38. In theory I could then fix the legs from my existing desk to that - or I could put it on top of my dining room table to cover up the mess I made on it with my painting!! Either way - it all sounds like it will be a fraction of the price of buying new which makes me very happy. I've also seen a glass console table - Ex is taking the one currently in the living room - and I've found what could be a stunning replacement for £30 - if they reply to my message.
I think when things settle - I may sell some of my existing furniture - and then buy some s/hand replacements and upcycle them. I really like hand carved stuff - and like the idea of painting them nice bright colours. I want more unique pieces for the areas that are more on show. We will see...

DD will get there slowly.
Laughed about ex's reaction to the 'news'. Someone must have said to him about not going until he has the money.

I love the way you are planning to make the house yours, it sounds fab and I hope we get to see some pics of your upcycling projects when you manage to do them.
Definitely keep an eye on the second hand areas - lots of desks being given away as people head back to the office. Keep an eye on Freegle/Olio and the likes as well."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Beautiful glass desk top 🌺🌼🌹 I love it. I had an amazing spare room in our last house, with a really comfy sofa and TV, it was really cosy - me and the cat used to spend many an hour snuggled up together. A space of your own where you can regenerate is amazing. I will follow you with they upcycling as I want to do some of that too."Think of many things, do one"

Thanks Sandy. I look forward to you sharing your progress too.
I felt quite blessed today with my FB bargains. The desk is a fab bargain - but I can't put it up for a couple of weeks yet. I got a vintage telephone seat - I will share pictures in a few weeks - that I plan to upcycle. It doesn't look like much yet - but hopefully it will when I'm done. When I told the bloke I was getting divorce he gave me a mirror and 2 mismatched bedside tables. One would require a lot of work to make it look good but the other was a lovely pine 3 drawer one. When I went to get the glass top - he put it in the car for me and pretty much offered to come to my house to put it where I needed if I struggled to get it in the house.
DD has finally signed the legal papers... So currently just me left to sign - and I'm hopefully talking to a solicitor about it tomorrow or the next day.
I'm now batch cooking a veggie pasta and then splitting some mince beef in a bolognese type sauce between a few different meals - I may even do cottage pie. I adore it. I got some lovely glass dishes yesterday at 1k3a that were good for portion control so planning to use them.
My weight keeps going up and down but the range I am going up and down within has dropped so happy with that.
