My little cherry tree has grown this year but is overshadowed so need to make sure it gets the sun again in the spring.EssexHebridean said:We're entirely surrounded by trees out one side, but they're on the communal green area and we love them! A huge Lime - the most beautiful shape and fabulous huge bright green leaves. A cluster of Silver Birch which just look so fabulous swaying about in the slightest breeze, and a smaller Lime, plus a few more small bits. then the woods across the road...we're thoroughly spoilt! It's very different when they're closer and overshadowing property/dropping sap onto cars though!
Sounds like you're doing really well with all the house/garden stuff!jwil said:Sounds like you've had a really productive day. Our neighbour's front garden is so hugely overgrown. There are massive trees in a very small plot. It completely blocks our light and our front room is north facing too. I can't imagine how dark his is!

Productive day at work which was positive. Should be home for a couple of days and then back in the office Thursday all being well. Can fill up with fuel Wednesday when I get paid so that should work out.
My solicitor is back from her holidays and apparently things are progressing well. So next job is to sort the mortgage. I think I have been sent an updated link... about to test it.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Still awake which is frustrating. I am also unusually cold. Just had some tinned salmon in seafood sauce and celery as a quick meal. (Biscuits weren't cutting it.) Put dressing gown on too.
My head is circling on whether to aim for Nov or Dec payday for the divorce. The latter would allow me to be CC free before the mortgage and share some bills and lifts for DD for longer and I would not lose pooch as early.
Cons that's potentially an extra month. While I pay my interest free cc quicker it delays mortgage freedom by 1 month. Awkward limbo would continue. Delay would take me closer to Xmas which I don't want...
Of course there's no guarantee how long it will take to finalise finances thro court but we've pretty much agreed the details between ourselves...
Could therefore be Nov or Dec payday... I carried on the mortgage application tonight but I need payroll contact details and want to ask the broker if it's essential that I am debt free at completion. If not I will just show it as a £13 per month cost which would take away much of the pressure to delay....
Alternatively, I could ask family if worst case one of them could lend me £1kish...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I'd imagine that you'd want your own Christmas not tied to your old past.
Whilst clearing your CC is important, I don't think you'll have much of an issue if it isn't.
Hope you managed to get back to sleep.
Take care, G.If it's not adding up, compound it!6 -

Thanks Grogged and Mark.
Thankfully the broker agrees with you. So I have a provisional date to work to. Just waiting for payroll to come back to me on what contact details to quote on application. Then will clear £200 on the Cc I paid legal on and will then submit mortgage application tomorrow.
WFH today. Going to take the dog out at lunchtime.
I checked my pension details in the middle of the night. Any shared costs can be taken from that instead of cash so that's helpful.

Great news that the broker isn't worried about the CC, and hopefully you can get things sorted ahead of Christmas"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee5 -
Went to a beautiful park with a lake with the dog at lunchtime so that did me good. Hope I sleep better tonight. At least I have a plan.
I am wrestling with other decisions now - like whether to cut my cleaner's hours (I should) and how much by and if so - when to tell her. She comes tomorrow. Similarly how frequently to see my counsellor - and which gives me the most benefit the cleaner (to deal with the symptoms i.e. the mess, clutter etc) or the root cause potential solver... My counsellor has suggested discussing fees tomorrow as she know I'm struggling and may give me a discount. She did for the first 4 weeks but not for the second lot...
I am being chased on whether to upgrade my life insurance to fill the gap between my current provider and the new mortgage. I've said ask me again in November - as in this job the gap is covered by work based life insurance and I want to see how my budget is going to work and what the final date for the divorce is before adding in even more new cost... Again - the price of the additional cover equates to one counselling session or one cleaning session per month...
I feel lucky my dilemmas aren't worse but they still keep me awake at night. I'm grateful I'm not required to pay off the CC before the mortgage completes though... So excited for payday tomorrow... Really enjoying a new l1d1 near me. 65p cheesecake that could feed a family enough said LOL... Grape spritz for 99p etc....
I ought to do some more on the garden or declutter tonight. My brain seems to have semi-shutdown. My garden bin is full... It's a surreal time. Alternatively I could touch up some paint... Going to sit and do nothing for a bit and see if I reset...

Before you take out life insurance, do you know what you want life insurance for. Do you need to leave a fully paid off house for someone to live in? My son isn't well so I need to leave him the house intact with whatever cash I can, in expectation that eventually he will need to do equity release. Do you need that? Or will something less be plenty? Maybe ill health insurance would be a better bet for you. - Questions just asked to help you think it through. No sense spending on something that may not be best when you do need the counselling & the cleaner.
