Well I took doggy for a quick walk this morning to the local park. I was going to go to an exercise class tonight - but far too hot... Ex is going out so I am going to enjoy the rare peace of a house to myself instead.
My energy supplier was going to put prices up by about a third - so changed to a supplier for people instead.. so still going up but £37pcm rather than more. Should go through in 21 days. I did it via £co having checked for cheapest on here. So will get £53.50 cash back too in about 8 months. We are in credit by £47 with current supplier and used £94 last month - so hopefully won't be a big amount to pay. New supplier takes 1 month's money up front as soon as they take over supply - but that should be the other side of pay day so should be okay. I've had to put all the figures in as if everyone was staying - as I have no idea how to estimate. I'm just hoping that my energy use drops substantially when ex goes with his 4 screens, multiple computers etc and similar for kids. DD used to have her fan on constantly - so hoping to see a big difference from that going at least part week. I've said to DS if he stays post divorce he'll have to contribute to bills. Warned DD she may need to contribute too depending on how much she's here. DS earns a lot more than her and has hardly paid anything since c19 started so he should pay rather than her. I will also need more £ off Ex while he's still living here... Complicated...
My BIL is coming over to help fix a problem with the stairs on Thursday. The steps seem to go down rather far when you climb up them...
I ought to check out car insurance too as it is due in the next pay period. Will wait until after pay day though as they sometimes take payment immediately which would be no good.
I paid £720 off CC that I'd put legal fees on today. Just £200 to pay as soon as pay day hits. I might just scrape through being able to pay it this pay period but don't want to have literally no £ for emergencies...
Done a picture shuffle in the house. Taken down another couple of family photos. Wanted to do it while adult kids not here to get upset... Awkward though as Ex came to see what I was doing...
Think will carry on painting the banisters... Want to get it done. Was hoping for an update from solicitor today but it didn't come...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Ahh yes, I can imagine things like changing pictures around could get a little uncomfortable. Awkward indeed!
Good work on getting stuff paid off that card and a sensible move to make sure that you do still have some emergency £'s left kicking about.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Better to work utilities out on current usage, then as they start to depart your payment will reduce accordingly. I would consider pro-rata keep from DD, normal keep from DS. Please don't try and apportion the bills with them, go for a fixed amount with enough spare.
Any idea what your ex's plans are yet? Treat him as a lodger, with a timeframe. I know it sounds callous, but you've split for a reason. Taking everything on, without any real change will lead to resentment.
Get insurance quotes, just don't start the policy until next pay. Always useful to know rough costs with budgeting. Remember to remove your ex from the quote, saves you doing it in the future, having it recalculated and potentially paying an admin fee.

Well I took today off and have done another coat on the white balustrade. Sadly - I think it will still require another as I am painting over dark wood...
I have some see through stained glass effect stick ons that I am going to try and see if I can put on the shed windows to make the shed prettier and block the contents from view. It keeps raining on and off so can't do the garden as I'd hoped. So thinking of making a difference there while I wait for the paint to dry. - Paused for an hour - and did that! It looks pretty but I need another roll. Think Bnq sell it.
I want to apply for the mortgage - but the link I was sent by the broker had the wrong mortgage details which didn't fill me with confidence...
Hope you are all having a good day.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

We were a bit more low rent on our shed windows - we used bubble wrap 😆
Sounds like your broker broke...If it's not adding up, compound it!3 -
Thanks Tahlullah and Grogged
Not gdpr breach just previous interest rate...
at bubble wrap. I have plenty of that too so could be an option ☺️ to be fair I have had this sticky stained glass thing for years but only just thought of using it in the shed.

Paint the shed beach hut style or freehand flowers, bring all year round joy into your garden.
Your broker is probably exhausted, mine hasn't stopped and things are not slowing for him. However, if you've lost confidence pick another one.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5
