Hey savingholmes
just popping by to cheer you on your last leg of debt busting journey since you're always so supportive on my diary 😊
sounds like you're doing absolutley great and I love all the other goals you set to, I could taking a leaf out of your book with that one. All I can focus on at the moment is getting out of debt.I'm so impressed with you going down the route of passive income, I wouldn't have a clue where to begin with all that.Good luck keep on going! We're nearly there 😁😁😁

Treat book one as the learning curve, you now know a lot more going into book 2, from that you will nail any niggles and go into book 3 a seasoned writer.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5

Hi Poppy - thanks for popping along. We are doing much better than we were - helped a lot by the fact most of our annual bills are in the second half of the year. The other goals - get intermittent attention. Writing books - while requiring a lot of upfront effort - could long term be a source of on-going passive income. Future S&S ISA investments can bring interest, dividends and share price increases (or falls) and therefore contribute to future passive income. Putting money into pensions now - gets me tax back from the government - and helps build future passive wealth. We're 55 in just over 4 years time and will then be able to access our pensions if we need to. Focus right now is on debt clearance and book writing (plus the day job which pays pretty well). Hope to shift to weightloss once the weather improves and lockdown eases.Poppy1984 said:Hey savingholmes

Thanks MF. Writing is definitely something you learn by doing. I am slowly finding online writing groups on insta and FB who will hopefully encourage me along the way.
Had a productive day overall. I've got roast beef dinner in the oven. DH peeled the spuds for me. I have some pre-chopped veg ready to steam in an hour or so. I am also on my third lot of washing. I woke today kind of dreaming of different stories - so it made it incredibly easy to get in flow.
Even though with my word count it might not seem like it but I am at around the middle of the book currently. I'll add more words (descriptions and action beats) when I am in the editing phase to make it all more rounded. I've had my best writing day since Christmas - having managed about 3,300 words so far today. I am in the middle of an action scene - but have taken a break to allow DD to dye my hair. My root colour is 'setting' for 20 mins before she does the rest. I ordered a cheap web cam earlier too - should come tomorrow ready for my conference on Thursday.
Will need to give pooch a walk later. I've looked at the lovely sunshine but not actually gone out in it. Too many others on my favourite walk... and I don't enjoy playing dodge or holding the dog back from sniffing other dogs.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

May/June!! Wow that's just around the corner how exciting 😁😁 I'm still aiming for the end of this year but my sons possibly off to uni in September so I know I will want to help him out buying bits and bobs so might slow my progress a little. Still my official dfd isn't until sept 2022 so anything before then I will be pleased with.savingholmes said:

Hi Poppy. When our DS went to uni it slowed us right down too. Him graduating helped a lot. Don't fixate on a date to the point you don't help your DS but at the same time - try to give him some responsibility to close the funding gap. It shouldn't all be on you. I hadn't realised you were trying to bring your DFD that far forward but go you!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Done 2 author interviews online this weekend. Will see if they bear fruit. I've found some more elements to try to get the word out about my book too. Will see how I go. Paid another £100 off target CC. It's now down to £2318 (started the month for that card on £4558). Had a gorgeous roast beef dinner - and there's enough left over for more tomorrow. Always nice.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Had an okay day today. Struggled to get going - and took dog for a walk part way through the day and then ended up working very late. Got DS to peel some potatoes for another cottage pie though so had a very tasty tea. DH has finally got around to replacing the lights in the ensuite (out of 3 downlighters only 1 works). Will be another £66. Debating whether to take from EF or reduce CC payment but would rather get debt cleared... Will decide later in the month. Okay for now. Get paid again on 15th.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
