I forgot to mention that DH bought one of those under-desk exercisers. - Other than it is too tall to use under desk as your knees come up too high really enjoying it. Trying to do occasional short burst while working or talking to people - albeit it is next to my desk rather than under it. £40. I seem to be using it more than him so far... Good for days like yesterday when it poured it down all day.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

He is so lucky to have you share your knowledge regarding money and finances with him. I know my parents never mentioned money, the cost of credit or it's value to me when I was younger. Hopefully, he will learn that a flask is cheaper than Starbucks! What I do not give, you must never take by force.

I'm guessing there may be no point working out an hourly rate for DS, due to how he prices his work? However, if it is a possibility, then do the psychological side and say "you have to work for X time to buy that £5 coffee" and "X coffees a month = X and amounts to Y a year". That's what stopped me in my tracks.
Your exerciser sounds great and being close can quickly switch to using it. That and your walks (well done for sneaking one in!) all help your mind and body.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
Hope DH diabetes gets back under control and well done on your eating habits, that sounds odd but better than saying diet because it's a change in eating habits that will be beneficial. Oh you know what I mean!!!!
I'm definitely going to teach the kids everything I can about finances and share the info on hear, it's one of the most important things that I was never taught as a kid even though my Mum has always been really good with money. My biological Dad thought and still thinks money replaces emotional support and being a Father, he's recently ripped off my brother and so frustrating that my brother continues to have a relationship with him. Anyway enough of that.
Hope you have a good day, H x

Have a good day all. Paid another £198 off target CC which means the balance on that card has shrunk this month from £3255 to £471!! So pleased. I have 3 CC direct debits to go out between now and payday. No further overpayments planned unless we avoid filling up on fuel which feels unlikely but you never know. Got a Mr A delivery coming tonight.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

That's an amazing result on the card, well done!
What exerciser did you get? I keep looking at them but then can't make up my mind which ones are any good."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
I had to re-read the current balance a few times just to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks! Wow, an absolutely phenomenal reduction SH, if that's got to spur you on next payday budget and beyond.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3

Fantastic result on the CC debt Savings. You should be really proud your efforts have come to fruition. I would suggest celebrating, but that might undo all the great work! What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Above should say - DS is getting £20 an hour not DH
Thanks for the congratulations Grogged, Jwil, MF and Tahlullah - you all spur me on to try harder to get the debt gone for good. Making the most out of lockdown savings while they last. (Cleaner, Fuel, impulse buys, school dinners, DH work lunches). It's not sustainable to pay that much off all year round - but hoping can do it long enough to get debt free by my birthday in May! We'll then have enough money in month to meet challenges like motoring costs later in the year anyway.
Jwil - it's an AGM one - on my fave online shopping site...
Once we are debt free on the list of things we want:
1) Get DH diagnosed as ADHD and try and get on meds as they are helping DS
2) Get a new mattress for our bed as I've been feeling the springs - It used to be super-comfy but not longer is but I don't want to delay our DF dateAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
