This will be a public consultation, and members of the public will have the opportunity to comment on the draft code.

How is it proposed to let the general public know ???
Will this be another farce that 99% of the public find out after the horse has bolted.

Or is it going to be a raffle like the postcode lottery ??

Just like the previous consultation in 2015, it will be published on the Government website.

The consultation held in 2015, entitled "Parking reform: tackling unfair practices", attracted a total of 571 responses, of which 428 were from private individuals.

The full breakdown of responses can be seen here: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/498636/response/1210195/attach/2/Response%20Document%20V9%20ISBN.gov.uk%20archive.pdf?

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Well I do, so that's at least one.

PMQs is just a piece of theatre, the PM cites one set of statistics proving the Government is doing well, and the Leader of the Opposition quotes different statistics proving that the Government is in trouble. Lots of cheering and heckling from the back benches, until the Speaker shouts "Order, order".

The real business of Government is carried on elsewhere.

99% of the general public could not care less about this consultation, as proven by the low number of responses last time.

But I suggest that the regulars on this forum who care about holding the PPCs to account, keep an eye out for the consultation (it will be on the MHCLG website), and respond with sensible and workable suggestions.

Agreed but the problem is, we know too much about the scam, could government stomach the real truth

When the consultation period begins it would be useful to direct Newbies to it instead of complaining to their MP. In fact, whilst it is useful to complain to an MP, I think the value of it has diminished a little now the bill is essentially passed.

I can see a feeding frenzy develop as ppcs realise they could be in their death throws, a little like with clamping but potentially on a much larger scale. The more Newbies that turn up the more input we will have.

I agree that complaints to MPs may be less effective than before, but I do not think that we should stop advising clients to do so. If the PPC replies it costs them time and money, if they ignore, the MP could get nasty.

Maybe government is playing a "clever card" here ?

Right now, they cannot just close companies down ,,,, but they can let them hang themselves all on their own.

We are seeing some strange things happening on here such as well know predators just cancelling tickets that a year ago would never have been cancelled.
I would suggest that the "tip off" has been done ???

Will that matter to us ... NO, it's the history that matters and will not be forgotten

Remember what the MP's said to the lead up to the bill.
It was said .... "put these companies out of business"
