It seems that everyone is miles ahead of me on their journey certainly feel that sense of drowning.
Anyway i am in 7.5k of debt. This has moved to a 0%cc and pay 225 a month. Desperate to get out of debt as have a young family now and need to have the extra cash to invest or just have fun things to do!!!0 -

I came here and took advice to contact Stepchange and they advised I went onto a DMP which has helped me a lot so far. A DMP doesn't suite everyone though so you need proper advice. I did it because my credit rating was already ruined and I already had a mortgage that I knew I wouldn't be renewing. I also didn't want to be able to use credit of of any sort as I just can't trust myself so it suited me fine. My situation has now changed again and I'm now going self managed but Stepchange were really good when I didn't know what I was doing
Good luck 😊Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200 -
Arrrggghhh wrote a long update and lost it. I can't face doing it again so
I'm fine but busy
PRA want lots of info to consider writing off my debt ie bank statements, mortgage statement, letter to prove I have health problems. Not sure I like having to prove I'm ill 😡
Semi retirement is being processed and as I have annual leave to use up I will finish on the 15th of October 🎉🎉🎉I have 35 days off 🎉🎉🎉then go back on or around the 20th of November
Money is tight but I'm scraping by. I'm trying cash only again to keep track of my spending as I find it easierOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1202 -
I hate it when I lose an update. Commiserations!
Suddenly your retirement seems close, what with the leave to use up. Do you have plans for your 35 days? I like all your partying emojis!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I find PRA one of the most difficult to deal with. They don't want to offer any F&F deals or anything.

Hi everyone just popping in for a quick update. I'm still busy 😊 I'm not sure if I posted this but my retirement has been brought forward because they owed me annual leave so I now finish on Friday the 13th of October ( hopefully that's not a bad sign 😀) I then have 37 days off before I go back to work for two days a week 🎉🎉🎉 I am currently wishing the summer away 😂
Debt write off has come to a standstill because I got in a bit of a state over it and sent them an email saying I would pay them a small amount each month to each debt and would just have to eat less ( dramatic I know 🙄) they replied saying thank you for offering to pay but it's clear from your budget you can't afford this so we have put your account on hold for 6 months and they have recommended I get in touch with Stepchange 😳 if they don't hear from me they will contact me again in February so I have 6 months to decide what to do and basically sort myself outOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203 -
Breathing space is valuable. Give it a little while and you may find people here will give useful advice, and your own thoughts will settle down.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hi OBL, you won't regret only doing two days a week, it's what I do now. Your job is more stressful than mine , but I don't know how I worked full time now. I get to spend more time with my elderly parents and grandchildren but social outings in the week.I am glad you have been given a 6 month break I'm sure it will help you. Did you say you were paying your mortgage off with your lump sum from your pension? How are you getting on health wise now ? Is your daughter happily settled her flat now ?
Take careLife is an adventure, never stop exploring.1
