I really should not google anything medical!!!!!!!!
Dr Google is the worst. I only ever do it when I have a firm diagnosis and then I always regret it . I will also google if we get a patient in with something I haven't heard of before 😊

Just catching up, really hope the steroids work.

Become how your mum was treated, at least you know what to look out for and that you really need to be properly managed and will ensure this happens. It certainly sounds like they are taking it super seriously.

It must be very alarming to have that diagnosis, but at least you saw immediate results from the steroids, and also have your Mum's example to learn from - I hope you get those bone density meds and whatever else you might need to bolster your system! DH was on steroids for an auto immune condition for years: he had to switch meds in the end (he was in his twenties so I suppose longer term would have had an accumulation of side effects) but in the meantime the steroids did what they needed to and also got rid of his eczema as a side effect.

    How are you feeling today?

Steroids are great in the short term. I had infected eczema a few years ago and had to take them for a couple of weeks. They certainly sorted it out. Mr SA also had them to reduce swelling in his brain in the first stages of his tumour.

I’m glad something is being done and you’re finally on the radar of the medics. Fingers crossed for some progress at long last🤞

  • I hope the steroids help you with the pain and don't have too many side effects.  My mum was diagnose with PMR many years ago but then rediagnosed a few years later with Rheumatoid arthritis.  She takes Methotrexate which has helped a lot.

They are definitely taking it seriously and also I do have to take into account that mum was diagnosed 30 years ago so treatment is probably more fine tuned now 🤞

It was quite alarming but at least it's treatable and no one has fobbed me off this time . I will be getting the other meds on Wednesday . Apart from the fact that I have managed to catch a horrible cold I feel great ,no pain anywhere and I haven't taken any heavy duty painkillers since Wednesday night which is a miracle in itself 😊

I did take them once before years ago when I had a very severe allergic reaction to some chestnuts one Christmas but that was only for about 4 days, this will be at least two years so hopefully I will get on with them 🤞

They seem to working so far,I've not felt this good for years 😊. They did test me for Rheumatoid arthritis and the tests were negative. My symptoms are similar to RA but not quite right so I think they are now on the right track. My friend has RA and takes Methotrexate and she does well on them. They can be used for PMR if you so get on with steroids but then they come with their own side effects too
