Hi OBL - glad to hear about the phased return to work. I can’t remember if you said you were with unison on here or not but if you are then as I’m sure you will know they can provide help w return to work negotiations. I had a phased return to work but also a superior who was really against me. It was tough but was quite proud of myself once I was back to my normal shift patterns. But people need support to get there - how has work been with you up until now? Hope you get some relief from this pain!!
I haven't spoken to work yet about going back, I haven't heard from them at all apart from when I phone to tell them I've been signed off again. I will ask for a phased return and they are usually quite good so think it will be ok. I am a member of Unison so can call on them for help if needed

I hope they find something to help. Is there anything they can give alongside the steroids to keep your bones healthy? I’m thinking calcium supplements or bisphosphanates (sp) I know I’m on both to protect bones but no idea if they’d be compatible with steroids.

They have to give you vit D and calcium if you are on steroids to help with bone density 😊

  • Not a lot of activity has happened here today so far, I was kept awake last night for several hours by the boys next door slamming around the house and running up and down the stairs, their dad has left and he was the one who kept them on an even keel, their mum has moved another man in so I think things are quite stressful there at the moment. I'm thankful I didn't need to get up for work but poor DD did so she will be tired today 😟

I do have a load of dark washing on the go so that's been accomplished. I'm thinking when DD moves out my washing will decrease quite a bit which will save me time and money, she only has 4 uniforms but works 5 days so it means having to make sure she has a clean uniform for Fridays every week, this is annoying because it makes two extra loads a week because her tops are white and her trousers are dark green so can't be washed together.

Ive also done my banking today so all my money is in the right place and I've paid the window cleaner and also EDF. This bill isn't due until the 1st of December but I thought I would do it now so I don't forget. I haven't seen another £66 government payment go into my energy account yet so I'm not sure what's happening there, I thought it was paid monthly 🤷‍♀️

Ive got my appointment for my bloods later and I'm also going to pop to the shop on my way back for some bits we need 😊

I thought that might be the case OBL. If you have to go down that route I really hope it helps.

  • Not having a very good day today. I had to go shopping but really could have done without it to be honest, I had run out of cat food so had to go.

The good news is I got a phone call from my surgery and they want to see me tomorrow about my blood results instead of waiting until the 13th, they had a cancellation so fit me in at 11.30. I'm hoping to get some answers and more efficient painkillers at the very least and if I do have to start any treatment I can start it now before going back to work. I was planning go back next week when my current certificate runs out but if I'm still feeling like I am today that won't be possible.

  • Hopefully you’ll get the answers and also the treatment you need to move forward and hopefully have a significant better quality than you have at the minute x

    Starting afresh.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x
  • Certainly don't think of going back until you are properly fit. In the long run it will just make you worse. You need to get properly fit and if you do get put on some medication, it may take you a while to start to feel the benefits of it.

Keeping everything crossed for you OBL - good to get answers more quickly. be the squeaky wheel don’t put up with any fobbing off if you aren’t satisfied they have addressed your concerns. I take a notepad with me if there are any important questions I need to ask as a prompt so I address everything. Am sure my gp’s heart must sink when they see me on the roster LOL
will be thinking of you tomorrow xx

I'm sorry you've had a bad day. It wasn't the weather to be out and about even if you'd been feeling fine.

I hope your appointment is useful (and that you managed to get plenty of cat food).
