  • I've just caught up with your diary OBL. I'm sorry to read about your pain issues - as others write, those who don't suffer from pain never understand how difficult it is for those that do. I started back at the gym a while back as I felt I was seizing up. I specifically chose my trainer because he is in his late fifties and understands how to train someone of my age what with my creaky knees etc as he's beginning to suffer from age related issues himself. As good as they are, I don't think someone in their twenties, thirties etc who are in prime fitness can ever quite 'get it.'
Thanks seasidegal. I used to be a proper gym goer before I got ill. I would be there four times a week doing weights and cardio and I was also a runner, I would love to be able to get back in a gym as I absolutely love the feeling you get from a good workout. One day hopefully I might make it 😊

  • Hi everyone just popping in before bed. Not a lot has happened here so not much to report. I'm still off work until December the 7th and I'm still having problems, I had my appointment on the 18 and spoke to a really lovely doctor who was really thorough so he has organised more blood tests on Monday  to see if I still have high inflammation markers then I have a face to face appointment with a doctor on the 13th to go through results. The xrays I had done seem to have gone awol so he was going to try and track them down as well. I now have problem with my neck, shoulders and arms  and he thinks from what I told him that it more likely that I have Polymyalgia Rheumatica 😢 this would explain the inflammation and me not being able to move my arms for the for the first hour of everyday.
Im really hoping he is wrong because this is what my Mum has and it's ruined her life. The treatment would be steroids for two years which I really want to avoid because the side effects are not nice. I will just have to wait and see and keep my fingers crossed that I don't have to take steroids 🤞🤞 at the moment I am having lots of problems walking so I think I need to be realistic about it .
There are no proper tests for it but they go by the symptoms of pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulders arms and pelvic girdle plus fatigue, fevers and inflammation which is exactly what I get . He said it could be Fibromyalgia related but that doesn't cause inflammation so it's more likely to be PMR .

I am doing some gentle yoga now to help keep me mobile and I'm still going for walk everyday but it's incredibly painful to do either of these things. I've been assured that it's a good idea though so will keep it up.

In other news we have put our Christmas decorations up because we needed cheering up. My living room looks lovely and cosy now 😀 I have not given a thought to Christmas yet so it's going to be a mad panic as usual. I am going out for a festive afternoon tea on Friday with some of the team from work so that will be nice.

As far as going back to work is concerned I am fully expecting to go back after the 7th when this certificate runs out. I'm totally fed up with being at home now and it's starting to make me feel depressed so I think I need to get back. I will struggle if I'm the same as I am now but I think the lack of activity is making me worse. If I go back on the 8th I am asking for a phased return and I will only have to work for two weeks before I am on holiday for a week

  • Sorry to hrar you are still having problems and hope they can sort you out without the need for steroids. I agree there are too many side effects from them. Have you tried any sort of holistic therapy, like Rekei or massage etc? Helped me no end with my pain.

I've tried both and neither really helped, massage will help me feel relaxed but does nothing for the pain, unfortunately if it turns out I have PMR steroids are the only treatment  so I won't have any choice, I'm just hoping it's not PMR but really the only way to find out is to take the steroids and if they work that's the diagnosis, if they don't then it's something else

Thanks Seasidegal, I'm hoping it's not too 🤞🤞, he was really nice but unfortunately I won't be seeing him next time because he was fully booked up for weeks, I'm hopping the doctor I'm seeing will be as helpful 🤞🤞
