My journey to a debt free life

Well done you! You've done it. You had to call. You had to reduce your payment. It was the right thing to do. DMPs have to be affordable. No one thinks you're trying to get out of paying- every one is cheering you on for nailing your budget! For getting on top of your finances. You are really doing this. I'm sorry your debt free date has been extended BUT it was necessary. Keep going 1BL - you're an inspiration xxxx
Awwww thanks for the lovely comment,I don't think I've ever been called inspiring before,I'm so relieved I've done it,I haven't stopped smiling all day:TOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -
I finally made a start on my Xmas shopping today,I bought a couple of bits for my DDs and a pressy each for my mum and dad and I decided to be very efficient and wrap them as soon as I got home,I'm normally to be found in a wrapping frenzy on Christmas eve in fact last year I was so unorganised I was still out present shopping on Christmas eve not 'this year though,I'm going to be on it:A
I have a week off leading up to xmas eve and I want my shopping to be finished before that week off,I try to do this every year so I can have a nice chilled week leading up to xmas and I've never managed to do it before,is this year going to be the year I come in on budget and on time.......let's wait and see
When I got home I had to clean out the chickens so I got that done, this mild weather is starting to annoy me now because I get condensation in their house which makes it damp, this is not good for chickens,it's due to lack of ventilation, they live in a plastic dog kennel that has vents but they aren't enough apparently, chickens get very warm when they are roosting so need good ventilation,I'm going to get my drill out and try to drill some more holes in the sides of the house and hopefully that will help,I can't be having soggy chickens there will be lots of disgruntled clucking going on otherwise and they have already made it clear that they have a low opinion of their lodgings
I also finally got round to baking a tea bread this afternoon,I was supposed to make it last week but didn't get round to it, I got a lovely bag of mixed raisins, sultanas and cranberries from Aldee to put in it and they taste really nice, they are good as a snack too,I will definitely buy them again
Other jobs today included doing two loads of washing, that's all hanging up on the radiators and clothes horse because it was raining and I'm trying not to use the tumble dryer, quite a lot of mine and DDs clothes arent suitable to go in the dryer anyway,it's usually just my towels and bedding I use the dryer for
I'm now having a nice relaxing cup of tea and catching up on the news on here,I have work tomorrow so must try not to stay up too late tonight,Then I have two whole days off:j:jOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201 -

I need to be able to live at the same time as paying people off,I intend to pay back every penny I owe but it might just take a long time to do it,I'm now hoping creditors accept the new payment
The lady I spoke to today used today's phone call as my annual review so I won't need to do one in February now and the date of following ones will change to November
I'm just calming down and trying to stop shaking and I will be going into town to make a start on my Xmas shopping,I've just been on Amazun and put the books DD wants I into my basket and I'm just going to check in town that they aren't on offer anywhere then if not I will order them when I get back
Well done :T :T :j :j :T I know it's not easy making phone calls like that but I knew SC would be fine with it. I'm sure your creditors will accept. My creditors accepted £1 a month for two years :rotfl:.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

It was reading the DMP Mutual Support thread that finally pushed me into taking action, there are so many people on there who are having to pay much less than me on similar incomes,I just thought why am i making myself struggle so much, it's not my fault my circumstances have changed and they can't have what I haven't got,I'm a bit sad it's going to take longer to pay off but this way it can just plod along in the background and eventually it will be gone,I will be 73 by then though :eek::eek:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200 -

I'm sure your circumstances will improve before you're 73, so try not to worry, it was the right thing to do.

Great news that you phoned SC and made your payment much more affordable , well done. It's very annoying for you not to get a Sunday to bump your salary up , it should be on a rota then everyone gets a Sunday if they want one.
Christmas shopping started is all good. I have started on the wrapping now .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Well done for making that phone call. I loathe making phone calls, so I'm extra-impressed.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I made that mistake with the first set, the low point was when I found one watching TV in the living room! A fox got our third set and we gave up after that.
Hopefully extra air vents will help.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
