WinterWarrior said:That’s so horrible, you’d think there would be measures in place to stop people being without heating and hot water for so long. Do you have plug in heaters? I know they aren’t cheap to run, but it would make a big difference in the short term.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1201

We woke up in the early hours of a Sunday morning last summer to the sound of all the water leaking from the bottom of the boiler. Went on Boxt website at 815 and by 8am the next day the boiler had been delivered and the engineers had arrived. All fitted by 2pm.
The prices are very clear on the website and there were no hidden extras, the after care service was also excellent (no I don't work for them 😉).
Hope you don't mind me commenting but just wanted to let you know that there are other options if you're struggling to get the boiler situation resolved 😊Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1202 -

It must be a nightmare with wet washing…..not sure if it’s an option, but do you have a laundrette where you could get the washing dry….just to stop the dampness in the house…..which could cause damage to both the house and your health.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1200

Hi everyone and thanks for all the useful advice. I'm sitting here with my heater on and candles lit and it does look cosy in the living room,I will just ignore the rest of the house which feels like a giant fridge 🥶🥶🥶
I went on my works social page last night and asked for heating company recommendations. One of my workmates gave me the name of someone who she knows so I found them on FB and sent them a message not expecting to hear from them until Monday but two minutes later they messaged me back asking for details and photos of the job so they could give me an online quote, twenty minutes later I had rough price ( subject to survey ) and they said they could come on Tuesday morning at 8.30 to have a look and that they had availability to do the job the same week. Fingers crossed they will turn out to be as good as she says and I will have a new boiler one day this week, I'm hoping they will be able to fit me in on Wednesday because I'm off then, otherwise I will have to wait until Friday and hope they can do it then. Please keep all your fingers and toes crossed that this gets sorted this week 🤞🤞🤞🤞
I emailed the company that didn't phone me back and told them I didn't want them to do the job as they had not got back to me when they said they would,The boss of the company was ccd into the email too and low and behold I got a phone call first thing this morning saying they could come and do it on Monday ( I told him yesterday that I'm at work on Monday and he should remember because he joked that at least I would be warm at work 😡) I actually missed the call because I was still in bed and my phone was turned off so he left a message saying he forgot to call me back . Ive just ignored it and they can shove their boiler where the sun don't shine. I will still have to pay them for sorting the leak but they haven't invoiced me yet.... I bet they don't forget to do that 😡
I woke up late today and still feel sick, I'm hoping tomorrow will be better. I'm ok so long as I don't eat much, I had a jacket potato with cheese for tea and felt awful after I ate it, I'm going to stick to toast again tomorrow, I was going to have some soup today but just looking at it made me feel ill 🤢
I did get my bedding washed today and I have pegged it out overnight so it's out first thing in the morning it was a bit windy today so it might dry .
I did take B for a walk through the fields at lunch time because I needed some fresh air. I've had a quick clean and tidy round today and then spent the rest of the day either reading my book which I finished or watching YouTube videosOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203 -
Hope you feel better tomorrow.
The boiler recommendation through work sounds hopeful!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Feeling slightly more human today 🎉🎉🎉which is good news because while my brain was keeping me awake last night I remembered that the boiler people will need to get onto the roof and the monster bay tree is in the way of where their ladder will have to go 🙀so I'm off out in a minute to give it a drastic haircut. Wish me luck because it's currently as tall as the house 🙀 luckily I have good extendable loppers and a big ladder so should be able to get to it all
I just took B up to the fields for a good walk and we were accosted by a pack of lurchers that were off lead. There were five of them and they were all playing fighting with each other which lots of snarling and biting going on, of course as soon as they saw B they all made a bee line for her, the owners were just laughing and inefficiently calling them away in that tone reserved for naughty toddlers that you can't control. I put B behind me but she still managed to lunge at one of them. Why oh why don't people keep their dogs away from a dog on the lead who is clearly not happy being surrounded by a pack of out of control dogs, I swear next time this happens I'm just going to let her decide how it plays out and I can guarantee they won't like the result 😡
Anyway enough moaning which is all I seem to do nowadays,I'm off outside to attack the beanstalk 🌳Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203
