I would work out how much the flooring costs and then see how much is being charged for labour, then you will see how fair a quote it is.

I think that’s a reasonable quote for flooring and stair carpet especially when if they’re removing the old ones. From experience things are always more expensive than you think.
I haven't had carpets or anything fitted for about 15 years so I'm a bit out of touch 😊 the other company I looked at prices look about the same.I also didn't factor in that that includes the underlay and gripper rods etc 😀

Could you ask him to break it down to materials and labour?

Hi OBL, We have just paid for new carpets for 3 bedrooms (2 double sized & 1 small) plus landing & stairs. We chose fairly mid-priced carpet, the better quality underlay & it included gripper rods, fitting & removing all the old carpet to skip back at their base. The bill, if I remember correctly without going to look, was just under £1600. Actually, I am not sure this is any help to you as we just had carpets, not laminate, which may be more time consuming to lay, I don't know.
I hope you can get it done though.

I think it's the laminate that has pushed the price up,to be fair my living room is 12 x 18ft and then add on the back hall which is 6ft5 at the widest point x 12.5ft plus my upstairs landing and the front porch,it's quite a lot of laminate. I do have enough money to pay this but just don't want to make a mistake 😟

I had to have all my floors boarded prior to flooring being fitted which added a significant amount to the cost. At least you don’t have that to contend with thankfully.

If I had gone for the vinyl option they would have had to,that's why I picked laminate because it can go straight over my floor boards

I've contacted the other company and I'm just waiting to hear back from them 😊
