I hope I don't get stopped by the police going to school 😱. I could show them my lanyard I suppose to prove that I work in a school, or perhaps school will give me a letter to show that I'm a key worker. I'll find out on Monday I guess when I next go in.
Have a lovely day off.

Another another busy day at work, our ward has been re arranged again so that we can have our children's ED on the ward and not on the emergency dept, all our routine operations are now cancelled so the ward is as empty as possible to allow for extra patients, we have spent another day clearing away things that aren't going to be needed,
Next week we start working with the new ward layout, all our training has been cancelled, we have all been trained on how to put on and take off the protective gear we might have to wear and have been fitted for respirator masks, you have to do a special test to make sure it fits securely so nothing can get through or round the edges, they have also warned us that our shifts might change at short notice because we might lose staff to sickness
I'm hoping against hope that all these changes and preparations will turn out to be not needed but from what we have been told that's not going to happen, so we will just have to wait and see and hope for the best
Im now off for two days which is a relief
Tomorrow I have to go into town because I got a text from Boots to say my prescription is ready so I need to pick that up, I also need to get some shopping ,we have food in the freezer but need bread, milk,Marge, dog food and a few other bits,I thought I would combine the food shop with the medicine shop to limit going out,DD2 was going to come with me because she hasn't really left the house for over a week apart from walking B once a day, however one of the students in her study group sent her a really alarmist message tonight about the virus so now she is too scared to go out, she suffers with anxiety anyway and this whole situation is not helping much at all, she is petrified that she is going to catch it 😟
Ive told her to give me a list and I will go and get her shopping, I will have to take the shopping trolley with me so I don't have to carry too muchOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8947 -
Oh good luck OBL. I hope your preparations aren't needed but it sounds as if they may be. Scary stuff
. I hope one day we'll look back at this and it will feel like a bad dream.
I hope you manage to get all the things you need in town. You may have to queue up before you can get into B00ts by the sound of it. Which shop are you going to try and get your food from? It's very lucky you have your shopping trolley as milk in particular is very heavy!
According to our local paper there are police patrolling our town asking people WHY they're out and about 😱. It does put me off going there, which is the point of it I suppose. I haven't been out for a week because of my coughing last weekend but I'm allowed out today and I'm wondering how different the world will look after seven days 🤔.
Poor DD. I don't blame her for being anxious because these are scary times. At least she's getting outside to take B for a walk so she's still getting some fresh air. What will happen about DDs course? Will the virus delay her finishing her training?

Morning OBL,
I hope you don't need it either, but looking at the news suggests it might be used. I hope we have done enough to combat it.
Hopefully town will be quiet for you to get all the bits you need as quickly as possible. x

The police were stopping all the cars on a main route into the city last night, one of our nurses was pulled over and asked why she was out 🙀
I got a lift with a colleague as far as the train station and then walked home from there,I'm only a 15 minute walk away from the station so not too far for me to walk
I love my shopping trolley,I just have to be careful not to overfill it because then I can't lift it onto the bus 😀 I went to Mr S in town, I got everything apart from cous cous and there were no Quorn products at all,I wanted chicken pieces but will have to do without
I'm really glad DD didn't come with me because there were some homeless people causing trouble outside Boots while I was waiting,DDs course is being run online and all the placements were cancelled, they haven't got enough practical hours now though so we aren't sure what they are going to do about that she is very stressed out at the moment 😟Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8945 -

Managed to get into town and back without being stopped by the police ( what a surreal statement that is 🙀) Going to Boots was a bit nerve wracking, there are two queues, one for everyday shoppers and one for the drug addicts who are going to get their daily methadone dose, so there was a group of homeless people congregating outside the door way who were chatting to the druggies but they weren't keeping their distance from each other or the people in the other queue, the manager came out and had a go at them, I thought she was very brave, they moved until she went back inside then they carried on
We were let in one at a time and had to go straight to the chemist and wait in the space allocated to be called, the druggies were seen downstairs given their meds and then they had to leave, I got my prescription paid and left as soon as I could,I was very conscious of walking out the shop past this crowd of drug addicts, my prescription is a controlled drug so I hid it in the bottom of my bag🙀😟
Next up was Mr S which involved a stroll down the mostly deserted high street, but there were quite a few drunk homeless people staggering round so you had to dodge them because they have no concept of keeping their distance, Mr S were operating a queue system but once you were in the shop you were free to wander round anywhere so long as you kept your distance, people however had no idea of keeping their distance,I was picking up some cheese and a girl came and stood right next to me then reached across me to pick up what she wanted, she just had to wait a couple of minutes for me to move but obviously couldn't wait 😡I told her off in no uncertain terms
I will be trying to avoid the town like the plague now because it's just too stressful to go there, there is a Mr M supermarket in my city,I have to get a bus but the bus runs from my road and stops outside the shop, this feels safer to me,I got on the bus today and there were only a couple of people on there,I sat at the back so no one could cough on me and I didn't touch anything getting on or off,I rang the bell with my elbow and gelled my hands when I got off,
that seems safer than dodging drunk homeless people and druggies to me,I just have to hope the buses keep running,I can actually get most of my shopping from my local shops but they don't sell any of the vegetarian food we eat, I do have enough other food to eat for a while now so shouldn't need to go shopping again for a while
I've also managed to get two loads of washing done today and it's lovely and windy so I've pegged it outOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8946 -
Your trip to Boots sounds dire. I would imagine by the very nature of their existence the druggies would be a hotbed for the virus.
I wonder if this tsunami of patients we are expecting will be the fallout from last weekend's surge of people swarming on the parks and beauty spots treating it like a bank holiday?
I don't envy your job at the best of times but right now it must be so frightening. You're doing a brilliant job, let's hope frontline NHS staff get the recognition they deserve at the end of all this.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
Sounds quite stressful. I have managed to avoid a shop as I really don't want to take DD with me. I am running low on a few bits and pieces though, but will hold out. DD has enough food for at least another week so I will hold out as much/long as I can. If it is clear, I might go in Monday after work, but won't attempt it if there is a queue.
Hope you enjoy your other day off and hope work is ok. x

The worst thing about my job at the moment is we have been told we still have to try to socially distance ourselves while we are at work, one of my younger colleagues was crying because she is scared and I couldn't give her a hug because we aren't allowed to touch each other unlesss it's absolutely unavoidable 😟Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8946
