I've had a busy but enjoyable day today, first job was to get some food shopping then I came home and had a coffee before heading out into the garden, the sun has been shin8ng all day so I felt motivated to get out and do some work

I have swept up the leaves from the steps and paths and piled them up ready to go in the square pallet in going to be planting in,of course I I got them into a nice tidy pile and then the chickens came along and just threw themselves in to have a good dig around,so my neat pile didn't last long
I do like to see them digging though and listen to them clucking to themselves when they find something tasty to eat,I do like the lighter evenings too because it means they can stay out a lot longer

My paths and steps all look lovely now,I just need to sort the patio, this will take some time as it's a mess out there,I'm hoping now the weather is brightening up to have the energy to move the chicken coop back up the garden then I can really get to work on the patio,it's meant to be raining tomorrow so I'm glad I got some of it done

I've got DGS all day tomorrow so I'm sort of hoping it doesn't rain so I can take him out to the park or something,I will live in hope!

I've finished reading Flat Broke With Two Goats and it was a really good read,I liked that she admitted to learning as she went along with her livestock,I did lots of research before I got my hens but it was still a very steep learning curve when I actually got them, she breeds goats for her own milk and did make some mistakes early on despite researching thoroughly
I'm really hoping she writes a follow up book though because I felt like it ended a bit abruptly and it would be nice to see how they are getting on now

I'm now reading The Cabin At The End Of The World,it's a horror book and according to Stephen king it's really good,I've only jut started it though so I can't decide if I like it yet

I'm listening to The Slow Home Podcast too while I'm gardening or walking anywhere and it's really interesting, they interview some really inspiring people,I'm also still reading The Simple Life blog,it's such a lovely read that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy,it's encouraging me to looks after my home and garden and giving me lots of ideas,I also bought one of her books on my kindle app so I'm looking forward to reading that

I'm glad you are feeling better. :)

The finances are looking good too - what's the betting you eventually get a letter from your bank offering to increase the OD? :D

I remember you mentioned Flat Broke with Two Goats before: I had a look on Kindle and read the sample download. I wanted to read the rest but decided it was too expensive (and I have problems with the library app). I've just been on again and it's nearly a tenner again (sigh). Never mind, if I keep a look out I will probably get it eventually!
I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

    Fashion on the Ration 2025: Fabric 2, men's socks 3, Duvet 7.5, 2 t-shirts 10, men's socks 3, uniform top 0, hat 0, shoes 5 = 30.5/68
    2024: Trainers 5, dress 7, slippers 5, 2 prs socks (gift) 2, 3 prs white socks 3, t-shirts x 2 10, 6 prs socks: mostly gifts 6, duvet set 7.5 = 45.5/68 coupons
    20.5 coupons used in 2020. 62.5 used in 2021. 94.5 remaining as of 21/3/22
  • A tenner seems a lot for a Kindle book, I thought they were supposed to be cheaper! It does sound interesting, as does The Salt Path. I'll look out for them in the charity shops.

DS1 gave me The Little Book of Hygge and the Marie Kondo book for Mother's Day and my birthday, so I'm looking forward to reading those :).

I need to pick up a book over the next two weeks, but just haven't had chance to. I started to read "feel the fear and do it anyway" which is a great way to look at things differently. x

I am very inspired Hairy,it's something I've tried to do before but it has never worked for one reason or another,I th8nk the main one was trying to fit a simple life into my old hectic life and not really letting anything go,now I'm not shopping as a hobby I have more time to spend at home doing my own thing,I'm really starting to love just pottering about at home and get quite annoyed if I end up having to go out when I didn't plan to

    Thanks Cherry
:rotfl: yep I probably will get one at some point

I was lucky and got Flat Broke really cheap,I won't pay nearly ten pounds for a kindle book,I have been waiting months for it to be reduced though,it's a shame it's gone back up again

I have both of those,I love The Little Book Of Hygge but I didn't like the Marie Kondo book, every time I tried to read it I fell asleep so it is good as a sleep aid :rotfl:

Some kindle books are cheaper but not all,you can get old classics free or for 99p but others are nearly the normal price,I usually wait for them to go on offer unless it's something special,I would pay full price for The Salt Path, luckily my DD bought it last summer so I didn't need to buy it,it's a signed copy too:)
