I'm so glad today is nearly over,I'm shattered after having DGS here all day and he was a complete nightmare, he wouldn't have a nap despite being obviously tired and then just proceeded to cry and moan all day because he hadn't had a nap,I could have cheerfully throttled him today if he wasn't so cute,we were looking at one of his books and there was a picture of a shovel so we asked him to say it and he says shubel,it's so funny

There was also some controversy on Peppa Pig, Mr Bull was being a male chauvinist and Mummy pig had to sort him out, then Peppa and her class mates had to draw pictures of vegetables at playgroup and when the teacher asked Peppa which vegetable she had drawn she said she had drawn a picture of her daddy watching the telly:eek::rotfl:

The weather was ok all day but quite cold and because DGS was being miserable we didn't go to the park,we did however go to out little local library down the road and donated a pile of books for a jumble sale the friends of the library are putting on, this library used to be in a purpose built building years ago but was closed down when the land was sold for shops, they managed to reopen it in what used to be a corner shop just up the road from the original building, this was meant to be temporary but has ended up being permanent because it's still there years later
I think it's really important to support our local libraries so they don't close them all, both of ours are really popular and well used thank god

Tomorrow DGS is here again because it's DDs turn to look after him,I'm lucky because I'm going to work so will be leaving at 11am:rotfl:

  • That sounds like a difficult day with DGS, as you say it's lucky he's cute :). How old is he? Mine would never nap because they were always on the go and then they'd fall asleep in their dinner :rotfl:.

He's 20 months old now and is discovering how to say no,he also knows exactly what he does and doesn't like,DD tried to get him to watch a different programme yesterday but he kept saying no turn off :rotfl:
Luckily he also loves looking at his books,he can count to ten and can tell you what the numbers are if you point individual ones out to him,he also knows all his colours and has learned to sing twinkle twinkle little star
When I left got work yesterday he said love you lots :rotfl:

He did sleep yesterday because DD gave him a dummy,he's supposed to not be having one anymore but there were three in his bag so she gave him one of them:rotfl: he slept for two hours :j

Woken up today to a lovely sunny but cold day,I was up at 8.30 mainly because my shoulder blade is throbbing like mad and it was keeping me awake,it's now spread down my arm to my elbow,I've sprayed it with deep heat but it's not really helping,I'm going to take some brufen in a minute to see if that helps

I did have plans to do some more bits in the garden today but won't be able to if my shoulder doesn't stop throbbing

I decided this month to have a proper go at the Curable app that I mentioned before,I finally took the plunge and paid for a years subscription,it was £75 but if the results I got from the free trial are anything to go by it will be money well spent,I spend £15 a month on medication so this works out at half the price plus it's got no side effects

I had a go with it a couple of days ago and did a writing exercise which I found really helpfull,I've since read the info once best way to use it and they say to do the education but first then brain training then writing and meditation,I did the first education lesson last night and that was quite enlightening,it was about being a perfectionist which I didn't think I really was but I did recognise myself in the description of perfectionist behaviour,so that's something for me to work on
They recommend doing two or three exercises or lessons a week so I'm going to try and set time aside to do at least that amount each week

I also noticed when I logged on that I haven't altered my signature for a while,I've got my emergency fund at £1500 and that's not right,I paid the vet bill out of that money and also paid for the app too so I will alter that in a minute

Hi Hairy, yes it's an app to help people deal with chronic pain of any sort, I tried the free trial first which gives you some lessons on how pain is processed in the brain and how you can get into a chronic pain spiral, the info makes so much sense to me and I have been wanting to try it properlyfor ages,I kept thinking it was a lot of money to spend on an app but if it works it will be worth its weight in gold
There is a Facebook community page so you can chat with other people using the app and they all seems to be getting great results

The app was developed by some people who suffer with chronic pain of different sorts themselves so they know where you are coming from and it's based on lots of solid pain research that I've been reading about all year,it basically teaches you to rewire your brain to think about pain in a different way, some of it sounds a bit mad for example talking to your brain to tell it that there is nothing wrong and you are not ill or in any danger so there is no need for it to overreact ,this can alter your minds perception of a situation that would normally cause you pain, I have actually tried doing this and was gobsmacked when it stopped the pain I was feeling in its tracks after just one go:eek:
There are also brain training exercises and meditation plus expressive writing to help you release trapped emotions or thoughts and feelings
I'm really looking forward to trying it all out and I think for me the fact that I'm doing something proactive will help just as much as using the actual app

So today has been fairly productive,I didn't want to go out today but ended up going into town because I was running out of dog food, while I was in town I bought some fencing tacs so I can make a start on lining the square pallet that I'm going to be planting some veg in at some point
I'm not sure if I will get much planted this year but I at least want to get it ready to fill up with compost and soil,I've also go lots of leaves to chuck in there and I'm thinking I might be able to put my kitchen waste in to compost down ready to plant later,it's a bit of an experiment so I'm excited to see if it works

I also cleaned out Eric and the chickens this afternoon, the chickens spent the afternoon pootling round the garden,I was tempted to do some bits in the garden but although my shoulder isn't throbbing as badly as it was this morning it's still a bit painful,I've got work tomorrow so didn't want to set it off again,it feels like I've strained a muscle or tendon so hopefully it will get better by itself if I am careful with it

I also got two loads of washing done today,I managed to dry one lot outside but it was too late for the second lot so that's gone on the clothes horse in my lovely empty spare room :j

I took the dog for a lovely stroll along the river after tea,it was quite chilly but nice to get out in the fresh air,I come back via a country lane that was part of the old village bit of where I live,it's mostly modern now but there's a big area in the middle that's old cottages with thatched roofs,I love walking back via the lane as it's so pretty and I can make out I live in the middle of a village and not a city

It's something I do love about the city I live in,it's a really good mix of modern and old,I live right on the edge of the city so I've got the best of both worlds,a twentyish minute walk takes me into to city center but less than a five minute stroll and I'm in countryside, ten minute down the road is the local river and I'm also only 15 minute walk from a train station which can take me to two beaches that are about 25 minute train journey
I come from Derby originally and lived there until I was 11 years old, when I was brought down here I hated the place with a passion but I wouldn't go back now,I love my city

  • It does sound really nice where you live, central to amenities as well as rural :).
