My journey to a debt free life

We've had awful weather today, heavy rain, hail and strong winds all morning . But as soon as I finished work it stopped raining and the sun came out can you believe!
I hope DD manages to write her essay. I need to write my assignment on child development, so snap :rotfl:.
I used to move a lot before I had the children. I've lived in six different towns and cities and lots of different flats and houses, but this is the longest I've ever lived anywhere (house and location). We won't be able to move in the short term, but sometimes I do think it would be nice to move somewhere different when we retire. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

We still have dry weather but I think the rain is on the way, judging by the forecast.

Yep we have sun now :rotfl: I'm wondering if the fact that I suddenly feel the need to upsticks I because perversely I know I can't at the moment, or itcould be that I have so many jobs to do on this house I would just like to move to a brand new house and start again:rotfl:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
OBL - You could well be right re the work you want to do on your house. We visited another part of the country over the weekend as we'd arranged a family get together to scatter my parents' ashes according to their wishes. We would like to move to this area (if any of it is still affordable) in maybe 12 years or so & have been talking a lot about whether we still want to do it (we do) & what our back-up plan will be if we are priced out of the market (which won't be difficult as we'd be moving down from further north). Mr f said he was really wanting to move house around 3 or 4 years ago but that he isn't feeling it as badly now. He didn't mention it at the time, but he did do a lot of chuffing about some of the bigger jobs which need to be done on the house. As all of them were too expensive for us to tackle on our present income, I suppose he was thinking one solution would be to walk away from them & start somewhere new. If we are able to sell my parents' house without too much trouble, then we will finally be able to get some of these bigger jobs done - that would defo be my preference, to get out current house shipshape - moneywise, it's usually the biggest asset for any of us, so we've come to the conclusion we'd do best to look after it, so it will be in better heart when we do finally decide to upsticks.
So what you said about it might be that it's the work that needs doing which is giving you an urge to move.......I really do 'get' that......exactly the same conversations here.

The idea of a brand new beginning is so tempting to me, although I stayed in this city when I first left home I moved quite a few times to different flats,I didn't need to but I would get bored,I've always joked that I should have been a gipsy and indeed my ideal life would be living in one of those big motor homes and just travelling where ever I wanted to
My ex partner was in the merchant navy and I moved a couple of times while he was away at sea,I would have to write to him to tell him we had moved so he knew where to go when he came home
I think really I need to just concentrate on making this house the house I want it to be and forget about moving anywhere else but my itchy feet are telling me otherwise
I feel like this sometimes, it has made me smile that you had moved while he was away though!! xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x0 -

Yep,I'm thinking this is definitely the reason why,my house has lots of little jobs that need doing but most of them can't be done due to lack of money, so I think I'm just feeling a bit stuck,I'm forever thinking this house would be perfect if.......
What I need to do is concentrate for the moment on the things I can change while trying to save for the things I can't do at the moment
What I really want to do is sell everything I own including my house, buy a small plot of land and build a tiny house on it........I need to stay away from YouTube :rotfl:Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -
Another day of work done today,I was in clinic all day so did a 9 to 5 shift
I haven't done anything apart from walk the dog, have a shower and put on my pjs since I got home
This evening I have been decluttering my Facebook account,I was listening to The Minimilist podcast today and someone asked the question " how can I reduce my friend list on Facebook without offending anyone,I have been thinking about this recently and they suggested that instead of unfriending people you simply unfollow them ,this way you get to pick what is on your newsfeed and no one is offended, then if you decide you want more contact you simply refollow them
I try to use my FB account as a way to follow inspirational pages and things I find interesting,I have a lot of people on my friends list but most of them are people I actually work with and I have to scroll through all their stuff before I find what I really want to see,so tonight I went on there and unfollowed most of my "friends" I've kept anyone who inspires me in any way and some of the pages I like to follow
I'm hoping it will change the focus of my newsfeed so I see more content that is actually relevant to me and not just people taking selfies etc etc
I'm going to try it as an experiment for a few months,it's already paying dividends because I'm now seeing posts from an old friend who I just dont see on there, this friend live in France so it's nice to be able to see what they are up to rather than the people who I see a few times a week at workOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941 -

although I did mention to the vet that she has been a bit stiff lately,so he recommended a supplement I can give her, funnily enough it's got similar ingredients to the cream I rub on my joints:rotfl: they can give her anti inflammatory drugs but because she is still playing and able to run around if she wants to he said a dietary supplement would be better at this stage as it doesn't have any side effects
Sadly we did get a bit soggyOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941
