  • Just checking in to say I’m at 13/28 as of today.

Last Saturday was my only non-AF day so far and it was a salutary lesson in why I cannot drink like I used to anymore. I didn’t go mad but I had a couple of drinks more than I normally would and went to bed with my head beginning to swim a little. Had to get up in the middle of the night and when I was feeling my way back to bed, I became really disorientated and tripped over, absolutely smashing my elbow into the bedside cabinet. Of course this almighty crash woke the other half up with a start and I had to try and explain what had happened, while trying not to cry with the pain! Couldn’t get back to sleep after that and was convinced I’d fractured my elbow it hurt so much (just badly bruised though I think), so I had a net total of about 3 hours’ sleep and of course felt terrible all day Sunday. Then I had to drive all the way round the M25 later that evening and it was bloody painful every time I had to change gear. Ugh.

This weekend will definitely be an AF one!

  • Calling an early 5/5 and 15/28 today.

Re let insurance, I'm glad we have stuck with Pet Plan. They aren't the cheapest, and we now have to pay an excess plus 20% of any costs due to the cat's advanced age, but they haven't hesitated to pay out on any of his many and intesteresting health conditions (dental problems leading to nearly all his teeth being removed, kidney problems, hyperthyroidism, chronic eye ulcers, heart murmur...). Of course it may be different for those whose pet isn't a collection of disorders with a poor attitude .

    12/20 and 5 SNC.

Arkers, very pleased to read of op's success. Hope he's soon home with you hopping around. I pay pet insurance as I have to but not sure it's worth it, especially as each year he get's older it gets more expensive. I also haven't tried to claim yet!
Sorry to read of interviews Annie, hope there are others in the pipeline. Changing attitude to drinking seems to me to be really important. At the moment I am in a good phase, dieting, trying to eat healthy and drinking one or two nights only. I hope the longer I do this, the more it becomes a habit and a way of life as I know I have cut down dramatically before and equally restarted the wine every night quite easily.
Still, it's Friday - always feel sorry for shift workers as I experience the joy of realising it's nearly the weekend. I have worked shifts before but not sure I felt the joy when it was Monday off!

Morning all, 12/21 for me today thanks. :)

Crikey Season of Mist - are you quite sure it's not worth checking out whether it's worse than badly bruised? I've only ever broken a toe but it can cause problems down the line if these things aren't properly identified and fixed up. Incidentally the second time I broke the same toe it was because I fell drunkenly down the stairs, one of the reasons I'm grateful I don't really drink at home any longer. I bet injuries from drinking are quite common.

Annie, best of luck on the job front, it's not fun. I hope something good will happen for you soon x

Hope Rosy is okay - she doesn't seem to be around at the moment :(

Haven't caught up with the thread and will so do later, but just wanted to report this. I now absolutely know what has been causing most of the weight gain and going without yoghurt and pesto in tomato soup at lunchtime, plus the chocolate and excessive amounts of cheese is the way forward. It also helps to have a lighter dinner. I will probably never again be able to report a weight loss of 800g in one day but I'm going to enjoy this feeling as long as it lasts. I woke up feeling less flabby around the middle and that feels very, very good.

    15/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

    Good morning everyone,
    9 please Shaggy
Thanks for all your thoughts everyone. I'll keep everything crossed re insurance, If they don't pay out I'll name and shame - this company is notorious (which I didn't know prior to taking out policy, but have read loads since). The important thing is that I have my dog back and the savings will take a battering to allow that. I feel blessed that I have an emergency fund for such eventualities.

Weight loss and maintenance thereof for most of us mere mortals is a constant battle. I've been at my target for three years and it's a relentless treadmill at times. I feel exercise for me helps a bit with this but also helps keep me sane. I feel if my MH is on an even keel this helps with my eating and drinking.

    Have a good weekend everyone

    Arkers x

Pleased to hear that HB. I read yesterday that Sacla are making a lower fat pesto which I might try. I love cheese but I find it best to just have an occasional cheeseboard when I'm eating out. If I keep it at home it calls to me.:(

I think what pleases me most about both my AFDs and maintaining my preferred weight is that I'm in control. That means a lot to me.:)

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
