Oh and...the leak came back in our central heating system which means that our brand new wood floor has to be lifted to search for the leak...... ooooom ....

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

3/12 for me for last night and 2/4 for this weeks challenge. Shaggy, well done for getting back on the AF path after your fun weeekend.

Honeybear, I think many of us know exactly what you mean and I hope the accountability of popping your weight down along with the not drinking will make the difference for you - good luck!

I am BMI 29/30 and reckon I’m around 2 stone over where I should be for a healthy weight. I’m into my 5th month of regular gym going and like Carrielovesfanta have found weight lifting is great for stress although I haven’t yet seen the increased energy levels people talk about. I’ve been trying to snack more healthily but yesterday had a complete blowout and bought the most ridiculous amount for lunch so I still have work to do.

I’m going to try and increase my AFDs first and then think again about what I’m eating when the weather warms up.

I’m up for checking / recording my weight !

It defintely gets harder to lose weight as you get older but it's doable. I'm within 5 pounds of seeing a weight starting with 8 stones - hell how hard can it be to lose 5 pounds ? Very is the answer - I've been trying since NY :rotfl:

I'm massively overweight, hoping that cutting down on the booze will help.
I'm aware that I also need to break my biscuit habit.... not sure I'm ready for that!!

Just to warn you - it didn't with me. I don't even do the late night gorging when drunk any more, obviously, but as Maman has repeatedly said, stopping drinking won't shift the extra bulk. That has to be a separate project. That's unfair, but it is the way it is nonetheless.

Well after a boozy (for me) weekend that dragged into Monday...I managed to haul myself on to the wagon last night and feel like I'm back in the AF zone of joy! :T

What's that - one glass of wine on Saturday and another on Monday?! Really sorry to hear about your floor. -- om -- indeed.

That's still not far off a healthy BMI though for someone who's 5 foot 4. It's like just a smidge over...a healthy BMI being 24 and yours being 25. Those healthy weight bands are quite wide. I could lose a stone and a bit and still be in the healthy weight band for my height (5 foot 2). AND I WOULD LOVE TO LOSE A STONE AND A BIT. I wake up everyday and try and lose weight!

I hate putting on weight too though, so I totally get it. I hate that feeling of tight cloths etc...

I find losing weight as mysterious as being AF.

    Can you walk a friend's dog? :D

Nope, walking a friend's dog doesn't work for me, and nor does upping exercise to be realistic; and I find losing weight as mysterious as you do. It used to be easy, frankly. I'm a sluggard and one of the reasons for getting a dog in the first place was that it would make me get up off my lardy butt and get outside, walking. Walking without a dog is ... utterly pointless for me, and while I have good intentions, it just never happens. I've never enjoyed exercise, and that isn't going to magically change overnight, so while I know other people get a real kick out of it, I'm better off being realistic and not trying to kid myself I'll do it.

BMI seems like a sensible yardstick, as is the waist to height ratio. However, my personal trend is up + up + up and it's time to nip that in the bud. I need to stabilize at where I am and stop thinking shedding this will be as easy as it used to be; I'm very few weeks off 63 and I've got a knee that is going to give me some gyp fairly soon if I put on much more weight. Post-menopause it's going to be tough to shift these extra pounds, but if I can give up smoking and drinking, I simply must be able to do this. I just haven't found the way that suits me yet but I will.

68.3kgs - no change. This is not a bad thing at this stage.
    13/31 please.
    Better is good enough.

I have lost weight cutting down on alcohol in the past but this year when I was AF for two months it never touched the dial (much)....mysterious I tell you, mysterious :rotfl:

I am yet another one who never saw any weight loss when I gave up booze for January, so I must admit it made me think, what's the point?

My body seems to have decided it's own weight for now and nothing I seem to do makes a difference, haha.

Up to 8/16 for the month, 3/5 for SNC and 52/183 for the year.

Last night, I was tempted again, but resisted. Not liking those days. Prefer it when I just breeze through, haha. Ultimately, I didn't drink last night because I thought, what's the point? I can only have one or two and there's no point in that? Which, in itself, sounds bad!!!

I had a lovely day yesterday and thanks for the good wishes for my birthday. I had some bubbles with cake and then DH and I shared a bottle over dinner. Nothing excessive but very enjoyable. It's not over yet as I'm out again tomorrow and Saturday but, for today, I'm back on the wagon.:)

Yes, that's my view HB:). My weight had crept up over a period of years because of lifestyle choices. I knew there would be no chance of losing it and continuing daily drinking. I joined the thread and cut back the drinking to mainly weekends. Then I started eating more healthily and limiting treats. In my case it was limiting them to weekend wine but it could be to limiting biscuits or chocolate or crisps or cheese or whatever you know you have too much of. They don't have to be banned, just occasional treats rather than a big part of what you eat (although some people find giving up a better solution than cutting down). Exercise can help but that's mainly with toning and agility IMO as you'd have to do a massive amount of exercise to actually burn enough calories.

I've stayed at my ideal weight/dress size for almost 8 years.:)

    6/10 AFDs please Shaggy.
