I'm flying back tomorrow, normal service to resume shortly after that, ha ha
I haven't read through all the posts while away but will catch up when I'm back.
I read a memoir while on hols, "Girl Walks Out of a Bar", this isn't a plug per se, written by a woman who was an alcohol and cocaine addict - she would get up at 7am, start drinking glasses of wine to rid herself of shaking hands/hangover and then do lines of cocaine to clear her head so she could do her high-powered lawyer job - and that was just her breakfast routine. Predictably she came unstuck. It probably did motivate me to restrain myself re my wine intake while I was away!0 -
I am currently at 10/25.
Can I ask a stupid question, don’t really mean it as such, but would ‘medicinal reasons’ give me an exemption from counting towards my total?
I have got a stinking cold at the moment, luckily don’t get very many and this is my first one this winter, but my remedy when I have been struggling I n the past has been to make up a hot toddy with lemons, honey, crushed up paracetamols and a measure of Scotch, all drunk as close to boiling point as I can stand to drink it. This has always cleared a stuffy head and allowed me to get to sleep.
Yes I know it’s the sort of thing people would say with a wink as they down a big glass of brandy “purely for medicinal purposes you understand”, but what if it really is? I don’t even like spirits and would never normally touch them.
My conscience is telling me “No” and I don’t want to claim an AF day if I’m not entitled but I can’t face a third night of no sleep due to coughing and spluttering so might have to resort to this remedy.0 -
Funny your hot toddy! I would say no it doesn’t count ,,,,,,, if it’s only the one !
I was wondering if shandy you buy has any alcohol content ?:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0 -
I have 8/22 for February
Can you put me down for 5/85 for the SNC? So far on 1/5?
New tactic to try and reduce the amount I drink on a night out - only bring cash to the pub - and when the money runs done, that's it!- it slightly backfired on Saturday though - as got an unexpected invite to a house party after the pub!
I would say a hot toddy for purely medicinal reasons (especially if you don't actually like whiskey) doesn't count!0 -
I drank the non alcohol wine ,, it was ok , prefer lime and soda !
My weekends are so chilled now ,,, my man still has the odd pint if we are in pub ( waiting for take away)
And it really doesn’t bother me ,,, we’re as I used to get very quickly tipsy , and all that goes with it ,,,sometimes very happy drunk , sometimes sad , full of beans , very tired , easy to talk to , very argumentative ,,, I could go on ,,,,
Now I’m just me ,, the nice normal me , and the me I like best !!
I’m pleased with my totals ,, year so far 31
Month 11/ 28
But my personal best is that I have gone 21 days in a row ,,, no booze ,,, I can’t remember when that last happened!!!
Thank you all for your on going support x:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0
