Agree about the decision making, I find it much easier to assume I won't be drinking and then need a wry good reason to have a drink, if that makes sense.

Not sure that works for me. I prefer to make a decision in advance (whenever possible) which days I'll be drinking and which I won't. I mostly stick to it unless an unexpected social invitation comes up on the day which is rare.

We used to have a poster on here who started every day assuming she would be AF and then 'beat herself up' when she had a drink. Her overall number of AF days was high but she still gave herself a hard time.

Possibly she really wanted to give up but was angry with herself that she couldn't. That's not me so maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday Maman :j:j:j

Thanks sukey. I don't plan to be AF when I'm away but I'm not anticipating heavy drinking either....except for water!

    2/10 AFDs please Shaggy.

4/20 and 2/4 SNC - declaring early too.

I did have two glasses of wine on Sunday and made myself freeze the half bottle for cooking to reduce temptation. I know I am not strong enough to cope with a half bottle of wine around but was pleased when I did stop at 2 glasses (which was what I had decided to drink). I enjoyed it too but happy to be not drinking during the week; always my aim. I've been helped by the diet as it feels like 2 barriers to drinking, calories and alcohol units. This is working for me st the moment but there have been iMessage when dieting and not drinking felt too much.

I was interested to read the Adrian Chiles article, it sounded as though he had shifted much more towards reducing alcohol than it seemed when he did the documentary. It's scary to read that 1.6 bottles per week is the recommended level, I have definitely exceeded that on a daily level sometimes!

Welcome back Poor Single Lady, good to rejoin the thread.

Maman have a marvellous holiday, the thought of heat and all the wonderful colours sounds fantastic, enjoy.

Thanks Maman and Honeybear. It's nice reading about what others think about my random wafflings, haha.

I get the whole once a decision is made, if you break it, you beat yourself up about it. But I think I need to plan in advance, otherwise I will just drink every day!

I'm liking my plan at the moment. No drinking Sun-Thurs. As it gives me something to look forward to and I do feel better in the week for not drinking. And if I do drink outside Fri and Sat, then I will beat myself up about it, cos I deserve it really!

I am up to 2/5 for SNC, 2/14 for the month challenge and 30/183 for the year challenge!

In my gym kit so no drinking for me today. I'm tempted to have a midweek tipple tomorrow but will see how I feel.
4/15 for February today. I'm looking forward to smashing this month's target, I might set a more ambitious one for March now that I'm in a bit of a routine. The last couple of months of 2018 were dire and I was disappointed not to meet my targets.

5/23, thank you Shaggy. I pruned some of the apple trees today; now I'm exhausted. I read somewhere that exercise is believed to stimulate the brain neurotransmitters in the same way as alcohol. Even so, I'm not looking at the exercise bike with any great enthusiasm :rotfl:

My tracker has given up the ghost through lack of use; I'll have to see if I can resurrect it.

    Have a good evening all!

rosy10, I recently lugged my exercise bike down to the local charity shop, and think I got more of a workout doing that than I ever got on the actual bike, ha ha :)
