It's habit, Pollyanna, and about giving ourselves permission. I'm not the only person who finds being AF much, much easier than having to make a decision every day, and sometimes several times on a tempting one, whether or not to drink. You weren't allowed to in January, so you weren't tempted. You are now, so you are tempted. And because you weren't allowed in January and you did, you feel very unsettled about it all. That complicates things.
Longterm regular posters will remember that our Thread 14 disappeared and then when this Thread was started, there were in fact two running side by side for a while. Until recently I've never gone back to see what we lost in that debacle, but I felt very disappointed that some of my Alcohol-Free Diary, in effect, had been lost. I've never known how much so I've been investigating and for anyone that's interested, we lost everything after the beginning of 29 July 2017 up to 18 January, when the first Thread 15 was started, which was then merged with another Thread 15 started on 30 January. So for a little while the dates don't really make sense, but then they settle down.
I suspect I'm the only person who's interested in that, but I thought someone else might be.Better is good enough.0 -
Morning all, 3/17 for me today please. To be honest my tummy feels a little unsettled so it's a no-brainer
Also, tomorrow will definitely not be an AFD, as I am having a catchup with old friends!

Agree about the decision making, I find it much easier to assume I won't be drinking and then need a wry good reason to have a drink, if that makes sense.
