Cutting Down Alcohol Thread

The other thing re lowish targets, if no one minds me banging on about this
, is I suspect we get a few readers/lurkers on this thread, people who would like to cut down but aren't quite ready to make a go of it yet, or who are thinking of joining but want to see what the thread is about, and I think it really helps them if there are people who set lowish targets each month because if everyone was going for (say) round the 25 AFDs mark people who drink will think "there's no way I can do that" and they will give up and go away. Whereas if there are people doing five or 10 or 14 AFDs, they might think "well maybe this could help me" and they might join. I know before I joined I thought 10 or 15 AFDs per month would be hugely tough. So I'd be really sorry if everyone on the annual (or monthly) challenges had really high targets
I think it really helps if there is a range.

Everyone Welcome Anytime of the Month! What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

Would you put me down for 3 for the SNC again Shaggy.:) And thanks for putting me on the December list.:)....before the party season begins!
It's already started here as we're out for meals (including tonight) with a group of friends. We thought if we went early enough we could miss the party season proper where restaurant food and service takes a nose dive.:( I think we have two choices over parties Season of Mist or possibly more. One is to go to all the events but choose not to drink at some or all of them. Another is to go to the parties and drink knowing that you won't get a very good score for December but can make it up next month. The Scrooge option is to ignore Christmas and not get involved in any events or parties:D. My aim when I started on here was to control my drinking such that I had some AF nights but also that when I did drink it wasn't to excess so that Id behave stupidly. I'll do that in December so fewer AF nights and moderate social drinking in between. The other thing re lowish targets, if no one minds me banging on about this....I think it really helps if there is a range.
That's what I really like about the thread. It's for Givers Up and Cutters Down. That principle has become firmly embedded over the years and while everyone is willing to share experiences, tips and reasoning there is no 'right' way. It's very different from when I first joined when there were posters who were so determined that there was just one way (their way) and that it was impossible to have a habit of enjoying drinking too much/too often without confessing to being alcoholic.0 -
Morning
My circuits class was cancelled last night, so I replaced it with a couple of glasses of red.
Definitely not drinking during the week this week...
Shaggy please put me down for 15 in December, I might actually achieve that target!!
Thanks for the good wishes ref the job, fingers firmly crossed here. Will let you know when I have news.Say what you mean.. mean what you say... without being mean.0 -

I've got at least one Christmas do coming up in December because I organised it :rotfl:I'm sure there will be more. Re A Christmas Carol though, I've always felt Scrooge had a point! Even more so these days when they start flogging Christmas stuff in the shops in the autumn. It's good not to go overboard with it because on one level it's all about corporations going ker-ching. On the other hand it's nice to get together with colleagues and friends and have a celebration or two. I guess as with everything it's all about the balance. That's what I really like about the thread. It's for Givers Up and Cutters Down. Good afternoon everyone,
19 please Shaggy
I noticed I've been put down for 18 for Dec, any chance that could be changed for TF - cheers Shaggy, thanks as always.
Maman - well said, I totally agree that this thread is one of the least judgemental, and supportive that I have come across. You guys are all inspirational and encouraging.
