Thanks! Must dash or will be late for work, hopefully I'll get chance to pop on laterOctober grocery challenge(started 17/10/07):
Asda - £11.98
Aldi - £10.36
Parking pot: £1.00 (everytime I walk into town instead of parking on pay and display, I put the money saved in a jar)0 -
Quick one for shez - in that case, so long as you are not consuming more than the recommended daily calorie intake for a woman of your age, height, weight etc - if you burn or don't eat 500 kcals a day, you should lose a pound a week. An important thing to remember too is that if you are exerising you are likely to be gaining lean muscle. By volume, muscle weighs three times that of fat and this may be why the scales aren't going down as fast as you may like. It is a good idea to look at lots of measurements eg, circumferences of various body areas, BMI, body fat percentage etc as well as your weight, to get a full picture of your progress. I'm sure they'd be able to check these things for you at the gym.October grocery challenge(started 17/10/07):

PS - muscle is more metabolically active than fat too, which effectively means you can burn more calories, even when you're just sitting on your bum (as long as you don't cancel it out with a twink!)October grocery challenge(started 17/10/07):

TAPLADY~ hope you managed all your jobs today with your mum.
CHALKY~ poor DD’s luck sounds as good as mine when it comes to driving.
LUXOR4T~ happy decluttering!
THRIFTMONSTER~ good idea about the mobile, OH calls it thinking out of the box!
STEFEJB~ it must be nice and hard at the same time for your Dad.
SHEZ~ remember if you are going to the gym you will be turning the fat into muscle. So maybe keeping a note of inches lost also, could give you a boost.
SAMSAMPOTS~ TWINK is a legend around these parts for her hobnob recipe. (OH said he is disgusted that i dont like them! my delicate pallete doesnt "do"oats) actually had to make him a batch last night, for his afternoon brew at work. Even went one step further and put melted dairy milk choc on top of each one. How spoilt is he.;)
Well went for my medical. went ok but then again, you just never know. The doc was quite pleasant. Will just have to wait and see what they say and if i qualify for industrial injury benefit.
BM is on with wholemeal loaf for OH's baggin tomorrow. Made crispy cakes and choc chip muffins yesterday.
not sure whats for tea yet.will raid the freezer shortly.
had a couple of buyers of my ebay stuff so have made a few quid.(all going towards last of xmas pressies:cool: )

Hi all
Shez - Kitchen update will be back very soon I hope:rolleyes: at the moment its all ground to a halt thanks to a big crack in the sink I ordered and of course there are no more in the country (a likely story more like another job considered to be more important)
Worked today in a very sunny bournemouth (not with wine today though unfortuntley:D ) the leaving do last night was quite moving - made me miss working for a team for about a milli second. Staying on tonight then flying home earlish tomorrow where hopefully I will get home before my SIL arrives as I need to pick a birthday cake up for her (ok ok I know I should make it but its just been too hectic this week, and the ovens still not working properly;) and Im carp at cakes anyway and ..........:o ) Do want to make it a nice weekend for her birthday though as I know she is really missing my bro and her son is now being bullied to add insult to injury:mad:
Tonight in lovely Bournemouth its an Italian on the beach (then I may go and eat:rotfl: :rotfl:) lovely restaurant so really looking forward to it.
Right thats me signing off
Hope your all well and hugs where needed :A0 -
Evening All
Not posted for ages although I have been trying to keep up.
Its been one bug after another here. First colds all round then vomitting and then colds again.
In between I've been trying to keep away from the net and declutter instead. Its going quite well although DH is not up for letting go of his stuff. I'm hoping to attempt the garage at the weekend which will not be much fun as there is bound to be rows over what we can get rid of.
Off to make spag bol for tea now, while dd is eating hers I think I will do a freezer inventory, DH gets paid tomorrow so I'm going to do a big shop including some bits for xmas that I can now fit in my now tidy cupboards.
Have a good evening everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -
MRSMIX - what an ordeal with the lorry. Something always happens when you've planned a 'me' day, doesn't it? We have had no news re MIL - will get DH to phone FIL when he gets in in about half an hour. All I know is that everyone is prepared for the worst - so she may surprise us - fingers crossed. It's been a strange day because MIL is one of seven sisters and three brothers and they've all been on the phone to me and each other all day trying to keep up to date.
JOANNASMUM - I hope you and your family are feeling better. I don't think any of us here have escaped the bugs.
Well, I re-reorganised my Christmas present wrapping room and it's all ready for the big push! I have to keep the door closed in there now because it looks like Santa's Grotto and the grandchildren would have a field day if they were let loose in there! I'm glad I've done it, though - it means I can pop in there whenever I have a spare half an hour then just close the door on it and leave everything out. I'll bring the cards down and write them at my desk because they don't need so much space.
Well, I have sausages and onions in the oven roasting with some left-over veggies from last night's stew (I couldn't get them all in the SC and didn't want to throw them out). I've got some left-over new potatoes to reheat then I'll pour some gravy over the whole lot. Fresh pineapple and banana with cream for pudding. Tomorrow is the rest of last night's stew so the meals for three days will have cost next to nothing. True OS!
Anyway, we've had lovely sunshine all day today but it has stayed quite cold. I even put my gloves on to go to the shops this morning. The skin on the backs of my hands crack and split at the slightest hint of winter, so I am always first on with the gloves round here! I've got some really ancient leather gloves that are brilliant and I can keep them on for driving. I always forget where I've put them and have a mad panic looking for them when winter comes - I think they'd cost a lot to replace these days.
Well, off now to check on dinner. Have a great evening, everyone and thank you so much for the good wishes for my MIL. Will let you know if we hear anything.
