Morning all
We got the house :j:dance: - subject to reference checks which we passed unofficialy over the phone...need to pop in and grab all the forms this morning and pay them an admin fee and we should have the keys on the 1st Nov! I'm a tad excited - can you tell.
Looking forward to writing a very polite letter to the current landlord wishing him good luck in renting out a property with no heating/boiler/opening back door and dodgy electrics.
Going to get super organised and do a prepack clear out - won't actually start packing until everything is signed and seeled but it's a start.
We'll actually have nearly 3 weeks of overlap on the two places so moving in can be as easy as we make it - plus it's not a 3 min walk away so I can walk round with boxes and bags and make a good start whilst DH is at work.
Serious store cupboard challenge going on now - think I can eeek out what we have in the freezer and cupboard will just need some fresh bits each week - I do resent having to move cupboards full of food and might as well have the freezer empty and defrosted and ready to go.
Anyway - I'll stop waffling - must go jump in the shower and rouse DD2 from her pit (she's broken up for half term already)
Hope you all have a great day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning to all who have posted so far and all to follow.
We heard last night that my MIL has had a second stroke and is in intensive care, unconscious, on a ventilator; they are going to see how she is in three days but it doesn't look good. She's 77 years old and a very strong robust woman so we are hoping that she pulls through. She had the first stroke about a year ago and the doctors said that the medication they put her on would make it highly unlikely that she would have another one, but it seems she has been having headaches which led to a brain haemorrhage. FIL sounds very lost and frightened. They have not had much in the way of serious illnesses - she recovered well from the last one, so this has come as a shock. They are not a particularly close family; the in-laws have lived in Cyprus for the last 15 years and have not shown much interest in either their own children, who had a pretty grim childhood, or their grandchildren, so DH and his brothers are floundering a bit wondering how they should feel.
The weather here is bright and looks like it will be sunny. It is a bit cool, though. I have the BM on and will put the WM on in a minute. I finished my ironing pile completely last night so am feeling very saintly. I have just been entering some comps - one is for a beautiful designer handbag which I would love to win. Today's plan is to sort through my Christmas stash and start wrapping up and writing out the cards. I've reorganised my spare room to give me space but I've decided to re-reorganise it now, so I'll have to do that first.
Anyway, I've been sat on here for far too long so I must get a wiggle on. Hope everyone has a brilliant day. See you later.

MORNING ALL,
sorry caps lock on, hope every one is well, its very cold here this morning, no frost as of yet, but I am sure it will not be long.
Off to work this morning, will not be too bad as the boss is not in, she is one of those people who have to do everything bigger and better than you, its really starting to grate on me at the moment  . DD has her last day at school today before half term, inset day tomorrow. Sainsbugs delivery tonight, I love seeing the fridge full, but it never lasts long
Scampi (bogof) chips and peas for tea, yum a real treat.
I made some soup a few weeks ago all the veg and pots that I would not use, I even put the potato peelings in, its really lovely, keep taking it to work for my lunch, makes all the other girls mouths water, while they sit there eating there shop bought sandwiches, yesterday one of them spent £4.50 on a salad, and she is 'saving' for a house !!
Well love to all today, keep warm.

Morning everybody
Very nippy here in Liverpool this morning! Top of wheelie bin is showing evidence of melting ice brrrrrrrrr!! So far have only managed to get up, feed the cat, put out yesterday's recycling (forgot last night) and have a cup of coffee - need another coffee to wake up the brain cells!
Sympathy and ((((((hugs)))))) (but not too close of course) to all who are feeling poorly-sick. Auntie Ollie says: Rest up, have the day off work, lots of lovely warming fruity drinks, beggar the housework, grab a book/knitting/craft, get on the sofa with a fleecey throw and let the families take care of themselves! Just spare a thought for us poor souls who are muddling through our days - no doubt our turns will come before long!!
Been having problems with a dodgy internet connection recently - but so far this morning it appears to be holding up quite well. Fingerscrossed for the rest of the day.
Have a good old-style money saving day, whatever you're doing or where ever you are .

WM & TD on, trying to get down the mount before the week end, as its bedding change time then.
Thanks to dlb who informed me last night as to why I got 2 big dints in my hedge! I thought it was OH who was a bit snap happy with the shears when he cut it back, and cut it too far! But it appears, that we've had Hedge Hoppers!
Not a clue whats for dinner later. Ive been cooking all week, and really cant be bothered tonight. Might just have beans on toast a'la carte style!
Anyway, best be off, have a great day all

Samsampotts- good for you out running. I walk miles and enjoy that.
Pooky- so pleased about the house.
Mioliere- so sorry to hear about your bad news. Such a difficult time for you all.
Penelope Penquin - have agreatr time at the Space Museum.
Well we are off to try and finish off our last bits and pieces before we leave on Sunday. Had a big cook -in with dd1 for her and dd2 to fill some of the gaps for them both whilst we are away. dd1 has now lost 20lbs and is chuffed. So it was all healthy meals. We put too much chilli in the chilli quorn and had to pad it out with carrots, courgettes, peppers and extra tinned tomatoes etc etc . It was amazing because we ended up with 3 times as much chilli which was delish so it really showed her how to be MS.
Poor dd2 has had a disastrous week. First she dinked another car and the next day wrecked her wheel on a stone. She drives an ancient Volvo and we thought we werent going to be able to get a replacement wheel but looks like we are going to be lucky on good old ebay. Of course poor Mr Chalky is worried about his girls and how they are going to be with us away.
Well more chutney made and store cupbpoard/ freezer challenge still on. Getting a bit tired of soup and steweed fruit if I am honest BUT I keep thinking of the pennies for our trip.
Well congrats to all those celebrating and gentle thoughts to all who need them especially if you are feeling sad or aloneTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Morning all,
another day tracking down clutter!
DS1 is home and is going to help with some lifting, so I can attack my bathroom cupboards. I'm really giving this a good go as the charity, e-bay and bin bags prove!
The book cases are next, I love my books but don't need to own them anymore - which is something I never thought I would say!
I must have 1000s, but at the end of the day they are becoming a dead weight. Mind, I can't imagine not having some... just how many that 'some' will be is the problem!
Store cupboard/ freezer meals today as I need to stick to my food budget.
Hugs to all!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning all,
Mioliere - hope all is ok - my FIL had several strokes and lived for another 11 years - even though he was in a coma for a week with the first one - so it is possible.
Pooky - congratulations on the house  :rotfl:
This is it - hats off to you - a fruit bowl!! - :T - worst I ever had to do was an Aztec warrior.
Well, it's chilly here but no frost. After yesterday's flying around I have a day at home. Need to make a choc yoghurt cake and a batch of Twink's hob nobs and tackle the ironing mountain as dh is off to China on Sat. I also need to do a pile of labels for the chutneys and pickles I have made to sell; price up my menu for Cub camp (weekend after next) and price up some dairy free, wheat free baking. (Although my neighbour now has asked for the recipes instaed of buying them from me as we originally agreed - think I might have a go slow on that one!)
Dh and ds2 are off to the synagogue tonight as part of an interfaith thing with the Cubs and ds1 has the .....School Disco!!!
Dinner is going to be curry made with the last of the l/o pork from Sat night, and HM naan bread and maybe a pea and potato curry. I also need to make some soup for me with some l/o fennel baked with pecorino - should be tasty.
Have also had an OS MS inspiration this morning. Ds1 has a mobile in his school bag for emergencies - but the weight of books keep turning it on and it dials dh at work by accident, thus also using up credit. But I have discovered that it fits perfectly into a hard glasses case (which we already had in the drawer) which should protect it completely. Sorted at no cost:T
