Loving the diary, well done on all the decluttering and debt busting!
I've got a Vauxhall Zafira and I get problems with it being sluggish.
Ours is a diesel though and it's usually to do with the egr valve getting blocked up. I only do short journeys which isn't very good for the car.
Not sure whether your car will have one of theseGrocery spends £193.44/ £70 per week or £303 per month0 -

Hmm, not even sure what an EGR valve is :rotfl: my car's a petrol car though. My journey to work is 30 minutes so not too long but not too short either. When I drove it home from work today it was fine, that's the weird thing. I think I'll just have to keep an eye on it...we have more cold weather forecast so I'm going to let it run for a while before setting off.
I'm reluctant to take it anywhere yet who will charge for testing it when they might not even find anything wrong0 -
Well, what a productive day I've had :j
Hubby was at work this morning so I started sorting through all my uni work. There were lots of printed research papers and powerpoint slides as well as notes I'd made which I had never looked at since writing them! It took me about 2 hours to sort through it all. I've kept my hard copy essays so I will scan them onto my computer and then throw those away too.
Then, hubby came home and saw what I'd been doing and he went upstairs and started sorting through his paperwork too! We then sorted through more clothes which were only good for throwing away and also some which can go to the charity shop. No one seems to want the clothes I've put on ebay so I won't renew my listings and will take them to the charity shop next weekend.
My husband commented how therapeutic it had been to sort through things and throw them out. We were doing it all afternoon and didn't stop until 4pm.
I'm not sure if we have much left now, but I'm going to keep looking around for things I no longer need. I also want to keep on top of the clutter and not get into the habit of storing paperwork that we don't need.
I also batch-cooked our lunches for next week. I did that this morning while hubby was at work and also made a curry for tonight but cooked enough for two dinners, so we can have it another night too. I feel very organised today0 -

Sounds like youve been busy Lilith. Re the clothes, I found that for general clothes they sell better on gumtree and fb, especially bundles. Great for people whose size has changed. It also means you dont have postage costs as they come and collect it.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Thanks Uniscots, I'll give that a go0 -
Another productive day, but unfortunately it involved some spending, albeit money saving in the long run
We were going to take the pooch out for a walk and drive to our nearest park in my car and I asked hubby to look under the bonnet to see if there was anything obviously wrong with it, given its recent sluggishness. Turned out there was no water in the radiator
This made sense as the fan had kicked in the other day, but I don't know if the lack of water is related to the sluggishness. Anyway, we drove down to Halfords in hubby's car and I bought an antifreeze/water mix for £10. While we were there I also bought some cleaning brushes and wipes so that we could clean both cars, which was another £15. I'd been a bit reluctant to buy the cleaning stuff, but then I said to myself "Well you were willing to pay £10 to have your car cleaned and hoovered last month" and I realised that doing it myself would be far cheaper!
So, after hubby and I got back from walking the pooch we cleaned and hoovered both our cars. Not only will it be cheaper in the long run, but it was far more satisfying to see our results, gave us some exercise, and also time together away from phones/laptops
So, I don't have the amount of money I would've liked to have put towards my MBNA card, but at least I actually had the spare money left in my account to buy these things. That's progress for me.
Thanks Uniscots - I've now listed my items on Gumtree. I'll hold off on Facebook for the moment as hubby has had offers from people on there for his stuff and then they've not turned up!
Pooch is now asleep under her blanket and hubby is cooking a roast dinner. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend0 -
Great day all round then. I think the sun shining had helped , even if it was freezing. Hope the car runs smoothly now for you .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
