Great day all round then. I think the sun shining had helped , even if it was freezing. Hope the car runs smoothly now for you .

Thanks Cumbria Lass. Yes, the sun shining definitely helped, especially as we're due some really cold weather soon :(
  • Hi Lilith.

After you commented on my diary, I thought I would follow yours. It seems that you have things well under control. Congrats on the extra payments and your mad skillz on navigating the hell that is a certain German supermarket! Cars are the absolute worst. Keep an eye on the water and oil. You don't want the head gasket to go. That's thousands to fix. Hopefully it was just a blip!

Good luck on your viva! That must be coming up now? How do you feel about it?

Hi! Yes, my viva is mid-March. Not feeling too bad about it yet but will probably be bricking it nearer the time!

Luckily the oil level was fine. I only bought the car in October '17 and it had been serviced so I'm surprised they didn't check the water level. Hubby said keep an eye in case the water is leaking from the radiator. Let's hope not!

I've done some credit card shuffling today. MBNA had a BT offer of 4.9% until February 2022 so I've moved my Tesco balance there as that had the second highest interest rate. I think I'll keep the Tesco card though because if they then offer a lower rate for BTs then most of my Barclaycard balance could be switched over to Tesco.

Obviously it doesn't reduce the debt but it reduces my monthly outgoings a bit, and I could pay any extra amount saved off the MBNA card.

It's been very quiet on the survey front today. Hardly any emails in my inbox. I did manage to cash £10 out of mysurvey so that should come within the next week. I think I'm going to put some money aside into a "rainy day" pot rather than ploughing everything off of the MBNA card. Once my £125 comes through from the Natwest account switch I'll put that in the rainy day pot too. I want to make sure I have some set aside for emergencies, rather than relying on credit.

It's been snowing here today but nothing heavy. Apparently Wednesday is going to be the bad day so I'm hoping I'll still be able to get into work, although I secretly wouldn't mind a snow day and to just book a day off :rotfl:

Hope everyone is keeping warm :)

    Good news on the BT.
Hope that the snow is not as bad as forecast.

Yeah it's just an all-round pain in the b*m. Roll on summer :(
  • I hope the CC shuffling works out for you. I am currently paying £20 a month in interest because I don't want to take out another card with a BT deal on it. I am just going to hit this one as hard as I can.

So how have you managed with #Snowmageddon? I am in Aylesbury and we have had flurries but nothing major. I am presenting at a conference in London on Friday but I don't see that happening. It looks like it is to get worse from tomorrow onward. The organisers refuse point blank to cancel which I think is unprofessional - I'd hate for those paying to be disappointed at the very last minute. My fellow panellist is stuck in 6 inches of snow in East Kent. I don't think she's coming...

Like you we've just had a dusting so far although it's meant to get heavier! We're in Staffordshire. Funny enough I have a friend who was staying in Kent for a training course and she couldn't attend the course today due to being snowed in!

The organisers should really consider if people are going to be able to get there. These things happen and as much work as it takes to organise, they can arrange another one!
