I got the microwave 🥳 Not tried it yet but it takes up so much less space and is ample for what we need it for. There were only 3 left at 10.45 this morning. I’m not joking every other person had one in their trolley.
The sun is out and it’s mild so I’ve emptied the laundry basket, got it washed and pegged out. Need to put the pebbles down DS fetched yesterday and sweep yet more leaves up from the drive.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
@Sun_Addict Can I ask how much it was, please? I never seem to get more than two years from a microwave, no matter how little or how much I pay. The only thing which helps me is NOT getting one with a rotating plate. Have you - or anybody else- done any costings about how "green" or thrifty they are? I use mine a lot to cook vegetables and make soup.Credit card One :£926.60( Oct 21 )(Nov 21 vet bill disaster), £999(Jan 22), £974(Feb 22)

I think Mr SA was a tad optimistic about the pebbles yesterday, they’ve covered very little once I’d put the membrane down, will need the same amount again I think. It’s only a small area. Noticed some frogs hibernating at the back so won’t be able to cover that bit.I put the old microwave by the bin and the scrap man has taken it already.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

We don't have a microwave in our kitchen. We never use one.
Got one in the van and that has been used once to check it worked. 🤣🤣🤣5 -

We use our microwave every day - things like; making porridge, pre-cooking roast potatoes and jacket spuds (then in the oven), white sauce (or Béchamel if you want to be posh). flapjack, heating up bolognaise sauce, cold cups of coffee, defrosting stuff ,,,,, etc etc. We bought a microwave back in 1987, to warm up my daughter's milk bottles - it's now in her house, having done the same jobs for all the intervening 34 years.
Now... when it comes to vacuum cleaners and washing machines.... they last less than 5 years!
EDIT - I can't stand eating off cold plates (unless, of course, it's a salad). Normally warm the plates in the top oven but in extremis (e.g. Christmas) can use the microwave to do the job - sorted!#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3665 -
DD has been chipping away at me all day about her friend’s cat and how she doesn’t look after it properly. She was at her friend’s last night and she asked DD to take it home with her. I don’t know how people can just give animals away, it breaks my heart. Anyway the upshot is the cat is coming tomorrow on a trial basis. I don’t mind it’s just the dog I’m concerned about. The dog is fine with our cat but she was here before her. I’m not sure how she’ll react to a strange cat. DD has promised to keep the new cat in her room at first. Not even sure my cat will be happy. This new cat is only 6 months old. DD definitely takes after her dad once a seed is sown. Why do I get the feeling this is going to be hard work.In sad news one of my retired friends lost her husband last night. I only met him once but she used to talk about him all the time so I was shocked to hear it.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7

The microwave is a good buy. I'm in the market for a new model but will wait till I move next spring. I make porridge, heat coffee, steam veg and quickly defrost sliced bread for toast in mine plus any ready meals. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Sorry - just seen your last post - I'm sorry to hear about your friend's husband. It always seems even more sad to hear news like this around the Christmas period.I hope the new cat settles in well and the dog takes to it.Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
