I’ll love my tumble drier. There are only the 2 of us. I hated my windows steaming up when I had washing on radiators…..I figured it would make the house damp which would cost more in the long run…..January spends - £587.586

@milann. I agree with you about trying to dry washing in the average British house, especially during the winter - a magnet for damp. When I was a full-time carer for somebody who was increasingly incontinent, a drier was an absolute necessity - not a luxury. Now I'm on my own, I'm lucky enough to have a Scottish pulley in my kitchen(don't know what the English equivalent is). You lower it, fill it with wet clothes, then hoist it up to the ceiling again. The clothes stay there until they are dry. Works well providing you can afford to keep your kitchen heated and don't make chips very often....

Mr SA in his Santa suit climbing down the chimney on Christmas Eve is not a good image!😱Sun_Addict said:Tonight’s gems from Mr SA - he can’t believe Beverley Callard is only 59 (she’s 64, have googled it), he wants a Santa outfit and a diary. He also asked me if it was 2002 next year. Beam me up Scottie 😩
I agree with the others that a tumbler drier would be a bit of a godsend for you in respect of Mr SA's accidents. I remember when my ex-husband and I moved into our first house. Money was tight and we bought the home essentials - cooker, fridge and washing machine - on the good old HP (hire purchase for those out there too young to know what that was!). We worked out that we earned enough to have either some carpets or a tumble drier as well. DD was still in nappies - and they were the terry towelling type in those days! We had moved in during the winter so I was adamant that we bought the tumble drier and the carpets had to wait!
Incidentally referring to @Scottiedog_3 's post, when DD and her OH moved into their house the previous owners left their washing pulley. When DD and OH had the kitchen renovated they had to remove the pulley due to their new ceiling lighting, but DD says she often wishes they still had it as it was so useful. I also remember as a small child my parents had one in our flat. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Wouldn't be without a drier now that we have the washer drier. We never used to have one and just had clothes hanging around on airers, but now that we have had one I wouldn't go back to not having one again.
I like just sticking it on a wash dry cycle before I go to work and coming home to washing that is ready to take out, fold up and put away.5 -
Top tip for reducing tumble dryer drying time is to put a clean dry towel in with the load.
I remember having a hanging drying rack in mum's kitchen. It was fab for "snap apple" ... tying thread to the stem of an apple then tying the apples to the overhead rack. Wear blindfolds and try to get your teeth into an apple. It was great fun. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?7 -
We had a drying rack in our old terrace house in the kitchen , remember it well. SA if you have the room for a dryer definitely get one , it will be worth it .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.4

Thanks for all the tumble dryer thoughts. At least today is a beautiful sunny day so getting my washing dried.I’m sure Mr SA has lost the plot. He was riding his scooter round the park this lunchtime like he was on a F1 racing circuit. He narrowly missed hitting the dog twice and hurtled so fast towards me at one point I was quite scared. We’ve just got back home and he’s noticed Mr Fluffy Head is missing from his scooter. This is a round black fluffy thing that we originally bought for DGS but he was scared of it so Mr SA bagged it. He’s now gone back out to look for it.
As I type he’s just come back with it.

I've never heard of that tip @satchmo1 - I will definitely give that a go when I dry my towels. 👍
My mind is definitely boggling now at the thought of Mr SA channeling Lewis Hamilton with Mr Fluffy Head flying in the wind!😱.Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
