  • Mr SA has suggested we go to the coast on the train for the day and take the dog. Apparently he will take his Zimmer frame and walk about with that. Pointed out it takes him forever to get from A to B with it at home. He said he would just keep sitting down on benches. What could possibly go wrong 😱Not happening I’m afraid, don’t even want to think about it.
    Nope. All the nopes.

Can't Mr Sa take his mobility scooter on a train ,I see people on the bus with them all the time, maybe hire a small one if his is too big
I have thought about him getting a smaller scooter at some stage because this enormous one he’s got now won’t fit anywhere. It would be handy for buses and trains. The train to the coast is always packed during school holidays so it’s not going to happen in the next few weeks. We’d have to rely on the weather being dry too as you can’t get scooters wet. You don’t realise until you’re in this situation just how difficult it is to get about with a disabled person.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

It would be a nice thing to do for mr SA but I think it was be too much for you. Maybe something to think about if you had another adult to go to help you.

A trip to the coast on the train with Mr SA sounds like a load of hassle for you.  From the sound of it he is a big chap and struggling on and off trains and busy seafronts etc is hard enough at the best of times let alone with a disabled person especially if no mobility scooter.  You are hindered by not being able to drive but the cost of running a car is expensive anyway so not sure that would be possible even if you were to have lessons and pass your test.  Is there a reason you never learned to drive?
