Sorted him with a new phone. He’s with Tesco Mobile, they’ve been brilliant. He’s been able to upgrade so I’ve had to pay £107 to terminate the agreement early but I’ve got him a better deal with the new phone so he’s paying the same monthly amount but it includes the insurance premium. I think I’d have struggled to find a decent handset for less than £107. Sorted 👍

He’s only had this one since October. He’s insured now but has been warned he must be more careful in future.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Well done on getting what sounds like a great deal.
Mr RS went through a phase of drowning phones a while back by dropping them off the boat. He did about three in a 12 month period. We decided at that point to opt for waterproof phones. He stopped dropping them in then!
Having waterproof phones saved my brand new Samsung though when the dog accidentally knocked it off the cockpit table on the boat when we had the canopies off. The other half had to go in and find it, but it survived the swim7 -
You don’t need me to tell you how many phones Mr SA dropped from a great height when he was a roofer 😱 A waterproof phone on a boat is a must I would imagine.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Does he have one of the robust cases? Lifesavers in our household on several occasions to do with height. Iphones don't look as pretty but who cares.5

A robust case is definitely on the list. I dread to think how many phones he’s broken over the years.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Boo to Mr SA.
What he needs is a bumper cover like mine.

I have a talent for dropping phones. I can keep a biro or a hairclip for years, but phones suffer, especially iphones.
I've had this one since November 2019: it's on its second battery, second back, second screen and third screen protector.
The trick is never to drop it on carpet or on the bed - those simply don't do the job. Concrete floors, however, will break something even without extra height or force. I have a robust case now, with a rim to protect the screen. Not as tough as the Unicorn beetle but it would be worth getting a Unicorn beetle just for the name.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Will definitely get him one of those if they do one to fit his new phone, thanks for the info Beanie 👍
Great customer service from Tesco Mobile, the new phone arrives tomorrow.
As an aside, I have every phone I’ve ever owned still in pristine condition. I did however manage to knock over a glass of wine onto a friend’s phone in the pub, luckily not permanently damaged. I wouldn’t mind but I’d only had a sip.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
